Heather has now pulled out of Prague - yet another British withdrawal.
It's poor form from Heather that she didn't withdraw until Saturday evening, after the qualifying draw had been done, when she should have been aware before the withdrawal deadline almost 2 weeks ago that she was ineligible to play Prague because she was accepted in Saint Malo. By not withdrawing in a timely manner she has affected the draw with the q1 seed being moved to the main draw and as a result the q9 seed qualifying without having to play qr2.
I can only assume she overlooked that the WTA and ITF systems don't communicate and automatically withdraw them from ITF if they are in a WTA.

It looks like the women, with two 125 events, a 100 and a 60this week, have quite a few empty slots in the various draws as players pulled out, or unfilled slots in the first place. Not enough players to go round at this level? It is a bad look to be honest
Evans wondered out loud why some of them are not seeking more competitive opportunities: We're picking and choosing what tournaments we play, and we're ranked 200 in the world - I'm not going to bag the girls here but no one played after (the Billie Jean King Cup).
'Theres some cultural thing about resting and all that. It's not new. Maybe they've got too much money or something.
He knows of what he speaks when it comes to putting in the miles. Incredibly he has not been home since finishing playing the Battle of the Brits event just before Christmas, which then saw him travel straight to Australia from Aberdeen.
Not only him but Cam, Andy , Jan now, Liam as well are all progressing because they are playing match tennis.
Hmm sone of these have hardly been progressing that well of late. And Ryan P most certainly isn't for whatever reasons and is playing most weeks.
Probably a fair point that there are often qualifier opportunities being missed. But it is clear that one or two of our women in particular have / have had injury concerns and that will be a factor in how much they play. Indeed different strokes apply generally as to what best suits different players re rest, practice and competition.

Spot on? Really? Cam and Andy are not really progressing. Liam neither. Match play or no.
And Aidan McHugh is playing match tennis. And Jay Clarke. And others.... And they're hardly progressing. In fact, quite the opposite

Andy is at the end of his career but dont ignore how he built his career. All hard work and regular competition.
Liam was progressing massive this season til a wrist problem around 4 weeks back but was heading towards the top 100.

Im not convinced they should be playing more often. Sometimes I look at players like Jay and Ali Gray and think they should work on their games and get some confidence before playing again. Sometimes losing becomes a bit of a habit, especially when moving up a level.
