And Eden starts off by dropping the first set 1-6

(It's on livestream, but Eden on clay is not a particulalry attractive proposition)

Freya v Amanda is on serve - *2-3

Two results which very much prove that if you don't do clay, playing up a few levels is unlikely to improve your prospects...

Eden is about to lose a huge chunk of her points, but seems to have committed to these high level clay events instead of Nottingham. Seems a very weird choice to me.

Especially considering a good run in those 25ks would keep her top 300 and in the frame for Wimbledon and, with a decent summer, US Open qualies. She's not a million miles away from top 250.

Yep. I understand it when young players decide they're going to tackle clay, but at 27, it's not really worthwhile for Eden - especially when her national federation has put on a practically tailor-made series of events which are the perfect level for her. But hey, I guess there must be a reason...

The same could be said about Freya

Freya + Ali, and Eden + Asia Muhammad are entered in the doubles. Freya and Ali might be seeded but on-site entries will probably bump them down.
