Well, at least Mitu isn't playing the same event next week. She's lost to her 3 tournaments in a row. Just a bit light weight today in windy, heavy looking conditions. Mana's serve was far too soft, although she came up with some cute slice angles off the ground.

Andreeva also thumped Palicova (who narrowly beat Swan) in the 2nd Rnd. Has she lost a match yet in 2023, ITF are showing her at 12-0.

It was a crazy draw for Swan, Palicova (70% win ratio in 2022), then Andreeva next round, and 1st seed to follow. A fine welcome back after injury!

 

Also, no better way to disprove the doubters (me included) for Appleton to reach the final in the doubles. Well done to her, and I hope she gets the win today.

Lovely job from Emily and the German player

 

Very neat, and tidy, both playing from the backhand side (Julia is a lefty and unranked in singles, just does dubs), and nicely in control
