Schlepphorst seems to spend a lot of time playing in that part of the world (she's entered multiple tournaments in Central America IIRC). I wonder if she is based in America, perhaps near Miami.
I'm not sure what Maria is thinking about not going to nationals. Surely a good opportunity to put yourself in the shop window and getting better sponsorship if you do well? Maybe she thinks consistent performances at upcoming ITF events will get her a wildcard for junior Wimbledon anyway.

I'm pretty sure Athina lives in the States, at an academy there, I think (she has a very British accent though so obviously grew up in the UK when she was younger)
It's possible Maria doesn't give a money's about the LTA
Matilda Mut. never used to play nationals (not that it did her much good, to be honest)
But it was a deliberate choice, I think, to follow a different path

Schlepphorst family relocated to US so now American based
For the hardcore, and because there are a few high profile names:
Wrexham is staging Tennis Europe events, Cat 2 U12 and Cat 2 U14, this week
Girls:
U 14 Final: Hollie Smart (2009) v Ophelia Korpanec Davies (2009)
A lot of our top younger players were also here - Sevil Parviz (2010) lost in the semis, Megan Knight (2011) - playing up a category - made the QFs, Tara Lawal (2010) was the other semi-finalist....
U12 SFs:
Ingrid Dumitru v Grace Watson Yanziye Zhang v Isabel Mclain
(Ingrid is the current U11 national champion, where she beat Yanziye, with Isabel being a semi-finalist)
(as above, Megan chose not the play the U12s in Wrexham, nor the U11 championships last year as she won the U12s instead)
Boys:
U14 Final
Pavana Nrshinga v Leo Wright
Matt Mclain (isabel's brother, I assume) and Rhys Lawlor made the semis Aran SELVARAASAN (last year's U12 finalist) made the QFs
U12 SFs:
Fred Fabricius v Haqim Kamal Kamran Arif v Oskar Laskowski
All new names to me
