Tim won the doubles event in Monaco in 2004.  Monaco is unusually quick for clay. I'm pretty sure Tim got to the singles semis in Monaco as well, but I can't remember what year.  I recall Tim's match against Guillermo Coria at the FO semis. Tim had come thru loads of very, very tight matches to get that far. If my memory serves me correctly, he won the first set against Coria but went down in 4, and losing one set to love. I can't recall who won the title that that year, but I remeber think that Tim would probably have beaten him if he had gotten pat Coria. And Tim winning the FO would have had a very significant impact on the way clay court tennis was taught.  We expected so much of Tim just a few weeks later at Wimbledon, but it didn't happen for him.

Didn't Greg get to the final of the clay event in Bournemouth in the same era?

There has been speculation that Dan doesn't thrive on the higher bounce that you typically get on clay. I don't know enough about the top level technicalities of the game to pass comment on this. 

Anyway, at least I get to see my favourite player again tomorrow!

Greg won Delray Beach on the green clay of the time in 95 and Bournemouth doubles in 96, albeit red shale - Ive never known if red shale is quite the same as red clay - seemed slippier and quicker when I played

Dan kicks off at 9.30 this morning UK time. Morocco does not have daylight saving and they move their clocks forward an hour in the month of Ramadan. 

Off topic I know, but last night I went to see Reginald D Hunter at Hampton Hill Theatre. It was excellent!  The support acts were just excellent too.

 Is that so morocco aligns with Mecca for Ramadan? And then they move it back again after? Never knew that !

I may have made yet another mistake with figuring out what time it is in a diffferent country.  It really shouldn't be that tricky, should it? But I trusted a website that explained the Morroccans put their clock forward (or is it back?!) so that it gets dark earlier so they can eat slightly earlier in the evening and still observe the no food during daylight hours  ritual of Ramadan.

I think I should stop posting messages re. kick off times.

TNNS app confirms 1130 am BST kick off: which they say is 1030 am in Morocco - suggesting the Moroccans moved back an hour for Ramadan! If they had stayed we would have moved to the same time as them when our clocks went forwards- so it seems it was the other way and presumably they go forward again (to the usual Moroccan time) at the start of Eid?

A very good performance from Dan. He won the first set with ease. In the early part of the second set, Dan played a horrid service game - 4 consecutive UEs. This gave Vavassori hope, and he served for the second set at 5-3. Dan won 4 games in a row to win the match.  Dan hit with excellent length throughout the match.

I think that the Spaniard could prove to be a tougher proposition than Vavassori.
