I still can't quite get my head around how well these lads are doing. Here we are and they are seeded in ATP tournaments and winning matches like they've been doing it forever. Who thought this would be the case this time last year?

It has been quite the rise! Almost 1 year since they started playing together in Nottingham in M25s. That first week, w.b 11/04, they made the semi finals before winning the next 3 weeks in Nottingham. Henry was ranked 472 and Julian 424.

and it is easy to diss it as just doubles but that would be v much unfair. I watched the Break Point Netflix first episode last night , which was focussed on Nick K and TK winning the Aussie Open. The play we saw was such high quality and the emotion and effort put in no less than in singles; there are clearly structural issues with ATP level doubles (and WTA) and promoting it, getting singles players to play regularly etc are all issues that need to be overcome, but let's never underestimate that there are some damn fine players in these doubles fields and Julian and Henry have done so well to get into the top echelons, so quickly.

Julian and Henry get a walkover - we will take that. Into the semis. Have they played an atp 250 semi before?

Ongoing rain delays impacting play in a huge way.

Singles are playing R16, so will be playing 2 matches a day to catch up. One or 2 others may pull out of doubles draw.

Their semi-final opponents also had a walkover against the top seeds (& AO champions), Hijikata & Kubler:

SF:  Robert Galloway & Miguel Angel Reyes (USA/MEX) CR 146 (81+65) vs (3) Julian Cash & Henry Patten CR 116 (56+60)

10-5 in the MTB, and now play Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell in the final. That will be tough but winnable. Good look to the guys

If the weather allows, will start at 1030pm tonight
