I think Lily has a decent chance. Sabine has been very erratic since coming back and she was never a clay court player even at her best.

Back in 2009 when Sabine was a teenager she won Charleston beating Venus , Bartoli and then  Wozniacki  in the  final. Grand Slam champions all the way. However she never did as well again on clay. Her best performances were reserved for grass at Wimbledon and the Birmingham title in 2011.

It is a very decent draw for both GB women. Heather should win quite easily and Sabine has barely played any decent level tennis for around 3 years due to injuries etc.

Especially for heather if she makes it through round 1, Townsend is still playing Miami doubles final

Qualifying draw now published on the website, so just to confirm -

Townsend has withdrawn and has been replaced by Hailey Baptiste.

Lisicki and Mateas are both Wild Cards

Lily had two set points at 5-4* and led 4-1* in the tiebreak, but lost

6-2 7-6(5)

Well done for Lily for taking the second set to a tie-break. Sabine has been inching her way up the rankings recently (60k semi in February) and has been training hard, so I was expecting this to be a straght sets win for her. (Yes, I am a fan of Lisicki and want to see her competing on tour)

Jeez Heather. This is just silly, she is now *3-5 down (having missed another break point) and basically if she makes the return wins the point but is missing tons of them. And also making a series of really silly decisions behind her own serve.

If she focuses she wouldn't lose another game, instead she could find herself heading for the exit.

Wastes two break points with poor play. Such an odd match.

*1-2
