Lovely to hear on commentary (for anyone that can't watch) that Isabelle's coach is getting her to focus on playing what they're working on rather than necessarily winning. So important at this stage.

Also nice nugget about Ellie Blackford not knowing in advance that she would get a wild card into the Junior Wimbledon doubles draw (her mother didn't want extra pressure) so she cried when she found out.

Yes, I loved the Ellie B story

Not sure I agree about Isa's coach though - the French system teaches the kids to highlight in advance their 'key' events - at the start of the year, normally. And those events are to be won - that is the focus - they're different from the normal ones, where development is important. I think you need to learn that mindset too.

That's a good point about learning the winning mentality CD. I guess I was meaning though about still taking risks at this stage, which Isabelle seems to be doing more than last year when I saw her, mixing up her game a bit, with slices and drop shots, and going for the lines. But yes you have to learn to win too!

The indoor conditions suit her far better as she plays 'en cadence' as the French say, she needs a predictable trajectory to give her rhythm. Hannah was dealing with the changing conditions outside far better, as she's got better reactions and more variety
