interesting decision by Jodie et al to go back to the states rather than stay on the clay in Europe...
Looking at the calendar for May, I thought some of the brits with top 100 aspirations would be tempted to go to Japan to play Gifu (hard), Fukuoka (carpet) and Kurume (grass), then fly back for Roland Garros qualifying cash, then onto the grass. But that would have implications for April.
Do you rest in preparation for such a demanding run of tournaments ?
Do you play Nottingham 25K on hard, in the hope of getting easy points ?
Do you ignore Japan and instead make a serious attempt to play on clay ? If so, Europe or US ?
For week 15, Jodie is currently 2nd seed for a 25k in Egypt on hard, yet has week 16's 25k in Egypt as her 5th priority. Her top 3 priorities are clay events. By tuesday evening we may have a better idea of what is going on but if there is a strategy behind her choices, I'm struggling to see what it is.
Nottingham entries on both men and women pretty weak. 794 gets you into the men's, 444 in the ladies - Jasmine is one out.
The women's is changing by the minute as the withdrawal deadline approaches. Last entry in qualifying is now Holly WR1219, and Jasmine is 10th in qualifying.
