Week 13 - ATP Challenger 125 - Mexico City, Mexico (clay)

Many of the of the GB players have been followed by folk for many years, right back to juniors and as they have emerged on the professional stage. Folk have invested to various degrees in their "journey".

It is nothing against Jan or similar nationality switchers to feel that such links are clearly not there initially and will take time to build as we get to know them, to the different degrees that we can get to know players.

People will have their favourites and it is natural that players' success are highlighted differently but I have seen nothing say against Jan.

Folk that do comment certainly seem to note his progress and very much wish it to continue. All the best to the guy. As you say, consistently good results.

I've not noticed anything bad said at all, just even when he's doing well the threads are somewhat sparse compared to others. I have a fondness for players who work hard, which he clearly does. Clay season is my fave time of year too, be nice to see him qualify for french open but am getting way ahead of myself now .

Not much to drop off until late August - so if he can keep fit there should be a nice rise. biggrinbiggrin

well, your time is now, Raindelay ( can we call you Rain or Delay for short - Ray or Del maybe ?!)

I wrote to Jeff Sackmann of Tennis Abstract about Jan just this week as I noticed they had him coded in as German on their site - and Jeff came back and said he had changed it straight away. So I guess his British profile takes time to filter through the system and wider into social media.

I notice he is in San Luis Potosi (where the women are this week) next week for another Mexican Challenger at altitude and then Sarasota (still Americas on clay) or Madrid (still altitude on clay) and then Oeiras (Portugal) follow - so, sensible scheduling, either follow the clay in North / Central America or keep the altitude going.

12 titles . 10 on clay. Mum from Southampton, but born and raised in Germany, still appears to live in Germany.

Julian back on at 1.30 pm local time and, if they close that out, NB 3pm local for their next match. We are 7 hours ahead right now, so 8.30 pm and then NB 11pm
