But, to be honest, of course you're feeling down if you're not watching any of the matches and just watching the results
Results are binary - win or lose
But there's a lot to be up about even when you lose (or sometimes down about even when you win) in the actual match
Emma's match was fine - not perfect but SO much better than nearly all her matches last year - I think she has gelled well with her new coach and that's a huge deal as she'd lost her way completely last year.
Emma seems to be going in the right direction but its still disappointing given Miami really ought to suit her game but she's yet to win a match there.

i.e. she's lost the 2 matches that she has played in Miami, in 3 sets to Siniakova and in 3 sets to Andreescu.
Granted Miami should suit her but that's not adding up to any great problem, especially with some of the other issues she has had. And she did play pretty decently.
Heather was unlucky to draw Muchova . Muchova conceded 2 games to Heather and Teichmann and 4 to Kucova. Indeed Muchova has now won 11 out of her last 12 matches only losing to Rybakina. It begs the question what she was doing in qualifying when you look at the distribution of wild cards?

The Miami court speed also suited Bianca's game.
I think Emma did well, she seems to be adapting to different styles of play - she's hitting more winners against players she should, and staying in matches against those more powerful than her. Winning the second set here showed she can figure an opponent out. If it wasn't for the wrist, I'd be super positive!
And ultimately yes, so so better than any match she played last year.
