Week 12 - WTA1000 - Miami, USA Hard

Harriet's game seems to be in a bad place at the moment. Little confidence. Big set coming up for her now.

How do we watch this?

If Bet365 doesn't suit you try this one

Well she needed a big set of tennis and it has started well for Harriet.

Emma against Andreescu. Shame it wasn't a better draw given the surface should suit Emma much more than last week, but it will suit Bianca too.

Winner to play Sakkari [7]. Could have been better but could have been worse.

Quallifying spots seem to be well spread out.

Oh, I'd forgotten Heather reached the third round here last year. Big ranking drop coming.

Overall it really couldn't have been a lot worse that your non seed in R1 being Andreescu with the winner's seed for R2 ( out of 32 ) being Sakkari.

Although Andreescu is the second highest non-seed, I guess you could say her form isn't the greatest and like Emma there's usually a half-question over whether she's fully fit. But yeah, it's pretty tough.

Emma played Bianca Andreescu in Rome in 2022 with Bianca winning 6-2 2-1 Ret.

Emma played Sakkari in the US Open in 2021 winning 1 & 4.

If Emma can get past Bianca this time, and repeat her win against Sakkari it would be her first top ten win, as Sakkari is now ranked 7 against 17 the last time they met.

Well done Harriet. Was nice to see her being attacking. Shame for Katie, but if she can keep healthy she can have a great summer.

Yes, I felt slightly sorry that Katie couldn't quite keep it up

But,as above, it's win-win match

And, as you say, good to see Harriet taking the iniative, being aggessive, and bossing things a bit....

Very good to read Jodie did so well, however good or otherwise her draw was considered to be.

Katie vs Harriet looked a toss-up to me. Anyway Harriet has that early break.

Though when Harriet, although a set down, went well up in the second set and was still being quoted at 6/4 against for the match, it was time to lump on ( my 50p ) on Harriet.
