Just watched the replay - he had an MTO at the end of the first set - it looked to be his left wrist that they were treating (but bit hard to see exactly).

He played two points in the first set - although the first was where R served an ace and in the second Liam just chipped a backhand return and then walked to the net and shook hands

Indeed, what a shame.  Nice coach though, good explanation.

Although hopefully Liam will get in as of right , if you were giving out wild cards for Wimbledon now, who would you give them to?

Liam
Ryan
Jan?
Billy ?

Maybe Ali G after last seasons work?

Id be hard pressed to give any more main draw mens ones based on where we stand now? 2 with 3 maybes ?

Liam, assuming he doesn't get in automatically, Kyle and Ryan are the only certs to me. I lean towards yes for Billy if he can remain fairly consistent next couple of months.

Jan will likely get one as well (I'm guessing there was some sort of sweetener involved for his agreeing to effectively be a non-playing reserve in the United Cup) and he is pushing his ranking toward the 200 mark anyway. Ali hasn't impressed me much recently but with his serve he should pick up some points in the early grass court events and that may well swing the odds in his favour.

I imagine we'll see a couple of new faces at Wimbledon qualifying this year as well, especially when we have a few players doing well on the college circuit.

Forgot about Kyle - would he have a PR though and presumably the LTA would prefer him to use that if he can?

I don't know how many PRs Kyle has left/will have left by Wimbledon but I imagine the LTA will expect him to use it if he does. I just hope LTA does at least use their full allocation of wildcards, singles and doubles, even if a few of them go to non GB players. Hate it when federations don't.

I would hope that if Kyle started to show some decent form, Wimbledon would give him a WC. didn't he use one for the AO and they only get 2 so FO for the other one or sae it for the US Open

Yes, Julia C, like you I am very appreciative of news about one of our favourite players. I hope that coaches and players will start to share their thoughts / musings / ideas / anything else with us on a more regular basis.

And Liam mate, it seems probable that you'll be taking some time offf next week, you'll have some spare time.  You've had a great start to the year, take a moment to tell us why you think your form has been so good. Tell us your plans for the next couple of months, which clay court events will you play if your wrist recovers...
