Presumably the surface for this will be hardcourts. Does anyone know how big the Coventry venue is and whether the BBC will be televising this one?

France fill me with dread and cant say I fancy our chances, but that said, we have done ok in recent Fed Cup ties, so you never know

I have copied over below the last few days' posts from the BJK Cup Czech thread :

I think the next few weeks are going to be very interesting and right now I'd say Anne K has a few issues to sort out.

Three of the top GB women are injury/illness prone. Emma especially has played very little tennis this year. Both Katies struggle to stay fit and Jodie is just coming back from injury and needs game time whilst Harriet's form has fallen off a cliff in recent weeks.

Add to that our specialist doubles pair doesn't seem able to string any wins together either.

A big few weeks coming up to hopefully gain some form and fitness.

Fortunately Heather seems to be playing better at the moment.

Lissey and Liv need to start winning again otherwise Annie might be tempted to give Freya and Ali a go.

Not sure I'd take a specialist doubles pair over a best of 5 two day tie. Slightly different when it's best of 3 all played on one day. But given current form no easy choices.

Lets be honest, the Czechs are a class apart from us and even if all our women were in peak form we'd still have no chance of beating them

Aren't we playing France?

Not according to the thread title but if you know different I take it back. It should be made clear otherwise what's the point of using one thread for every BJK Cup match?

We are playing France - basically this thread is the 2022 equivalent thread and folks have continued to post in here; what it needs is a new thread setting up and maybe a mod can move some of the France related content across to that thread...

But it is France and the title is an old one!

BTW - anyone can start a new thread here, doesnt need to wait for someone specific...so Brendan, you could go ahead and do it if you see it is needed, no worries. This old thread kept getting used because, most likely, no one could be bothered or had the time!!

Anyway, new one up and running now.

Re the doubles I'd say Lissey & Liv or no doubles specialists.

I don't think Freya & Ali are yet of the necessary level. Lissey & Liv are when near their best.

Not too sure Emma will be going to Coventry, apparently she didn't even know when the tie was.

When she does check her diary she might give it a miss as its just before Stuttgart.

Not sure that is correct based on Anne K's reaction on twitter

Whats the Emma and Shapo link mentioned in one of the tweets?

Russell Fuller thinks Emma won't be in the squad, she more or less said after the Iga match she'd be doing a training block after Miami but before the clay court season starts.

Lissey and Liv practising on clay already so might not be selected this time either but hope I'm wrong.

Top 2 (post Indian Wells rankings) are missing. Squad is

Harriet, Heather, Katie B, Lissey and Liv.

Katie S feels an odd omission on form. Jodie I guess out the running coming back from injury. The chances of this match coming down to a deciding doubles rubber are about 0.1% so I think a specialist doubles pairing has less value, but then if Emma/Jodie/Katie S are out the running who else are you supposed to pick...

France announce Garcia, Cornet, Burel and Mladenovic.

Shame Emma isn't playing actually. Cornet isn't in great form.

I would probably have gone for Swanny over Harriet as well.

If your number 1 ranked player won't play, it seems odd to not select your number 2 ranked player.

I guess we will find it in Miami if this would make sense or not!

I think Katie Swan, Emma and Jodie are all too borderline injured to pick
Or if picked, they said no
Emma wasn't fussed about the last tie either
I also think this applies to Katie B too - she's already ruined her season once for BJK Cup
But maybe she couldn't say no
Or just loves the event...
