Girls: J60 Gjovik, Norway - indoor hard (Week 9)

We have four girls here, including the top seed and the 8th seed, so worthy of its own thread.

And we managed a full house in R1

Vlada Kozak (seeded 1 and age 16) won her match at the line, 7-5 in the third

Sirena Waas (age 16) won 2 & 2

Annabel Hristova (age 14) beat the 6th seed, 2 & 0

Isabella Gibson (age 17 and seeded 8) won 3 & 0

Lord, we're having a blast in Norway ....

Sirena lost in three sets, to the 5th seed

BUT Isabella G beat the 2nd seed in three sets

Vlada also took three sets (another really tight match for her but she got the job done)

And young Annabel won in two

So the semis are:

Vlada v CZE

Annabel v Isabella

Annabel is also into the doubles semis

Rocking it, girls, rocking it

Vlada won her semi, 7-5 7-5, so that got rid of the only non-GB player

And young Annabel beat Isabella, 6-1 6-4

This is a great week for Annabel (and counting)

She's only 14, has never played a J60 (J4) event before and never made a final in a J30 (J5)

So this is going to be a huge rankings boost for her....

And Annabel has also made the finals of the doubles

Good luck to her in her finals

And Vlada too, of course

Annabel Hristova GBR (age 14) def. (1) Vlada Kozak GBR (age 16) 6-2 6-2

Thrilled for Annabel. That's a super title, at this level, and her age (born 2008)

And she has her doubles final coming up too

And Annabel does the double

Annabel Hristova & ROU def. Ger/CZE 6-3 6-2

That's an amazing week for the youngster

Just to point out too, that Annabel has only played 6 ITF junior events up till now. All J30/J5s.

This is her first J60/J4

And she's taken both titles

Which is especially noteworthy when you see that Vlada Kozak played 24 (!!!!) events

Six versus twenty-four.....

Mind you, 24 events is utterly ridiculous (IMHO)

That's a tournament every other week.

Why on earth is Vlada pursuing that as a path? You've no time for training, for practicing, no time for anything - you're constantly on the move, playing matches. (It's true that Vlada has lost in the first round of a remarkably high number of those 24 but that rather proves the point)
