Good to see Fran getting her ranking back. The five points earned so far along with the 9 from last week should put her around WR1000 - or just above.
I was under the impression that the three tournaments or 10 point rule meant that 9 + 5 points wasn't enough, but on looking at other players I can see that I was mistaken.
(eg Layne Sleeth (CAN) has 8+5 and is ranked 1007)

Yes it's an eirher/or of 3 scores or 10 points in total. So anyone with 10 points or more in total is ranked.
If Fran already has enough to sneak into the top 1000, or hopefully wins her next round anyway, that will give us 30 GB women in the top 1000 as against 33 men. There are currently 16 GB women and 17 men in the top 500.
Out of interest, does Fran have a specially adapted grip on her tennis racket or just a standard one.
I don't know for a fact but I sat right up close to her several years ago and, from what I could see, there was no special grip but the racket handle was very small (not sure if it's simply the smallest official size or if she gets it made specially, even smaller). When newspapers report about Fran's hand, they always mention that she only has three fingers. Which makes you think of a normal hand, with a space for a finger, as though you'd had one amputated, say. But Fran's hand itself (her palm and the back of her hand) is only the width of three fingers. It's terribly narrow. Hence, she says that to grip the racket handle firmly takes the most enormous amount of force, hence all the subsequent problems to her hand/wrist etc.
