Week 9 - WTA 250 - ATX Open - Austin, TX, USA (outdoor hard)

Wins the last 4 games of the set, the last 3 all to deuce. Good digging.

Don't know much about Avanesyan, and not all that the wiser from the bits I've seen.

Didn't see when the issue occurred, but Katie could easily have been in the locker room after a straight sets defeat, so all credit for managing to stick in, save the match points, and take advantage.

I saw the MTO in the second set (which obviously was for Elina)

But I didn't see what happened before (if there was a fall or something)

Sorry, that was supposed to be a reply to PaulM

(But not saying much anyway so general fluff really....)

There are seven spots for Q and LL in the main draw and only one against a seed, Potapova the 3rd seed. There is one Q v Q slot.

A young player aged 20  from a country we don't mention. She qualified for the US Open 2022 and had an easy win over Harriet in Bogata in 2022.

No day off for Heather and Katie who both play today. Harriet plays doubles as well.

Harriets had terrible luck with draws this year.

Heather in singles and Harriet in doubles about to start.

Some very good tennis from Heather but this one was really about Kovinic who fluctuated wildly in energy and quality. Heather had two individual set points at 6-5*, the first she didn't do enough with the second serve return, the second she went for too much in the rally.

A bad double gave Heather *5-2 in the double, and another error for *6-2. Heather plays a couple of tight rally balls but Kovinic balloons long.

7-6(2) 0-0*

Doubles

L16:- Harriet Dart (GBR) / Alexandra Panova (RUS) CR181 (123+58) (4) LOST TO Ashlyn Krueger (USA) / Robin Montgomery (USA) CR377 (139+238) [WC] 3-6 6-3 7-10

Not a very good performance from either team, but fewer errors from the teenagers.
