11-9 in the MTB to Luke and Dutch friend

Really close at the end - Luke played a super point at 8-8 - it looks like a really basic, standard shot, but it would have been so easy to rush it and mess it up and he took his time, placed it well, forced the error, kept them in it...

Ali has lost the first set 4-6.

2 early breaks for Thompson for 1-4*. One break pulled back for 3-4*. Then with serve.

Gray's backhand is scarily bad.

Thompson plays far too many challengers, always in the top 100 and seems to play these tournaments all the time.

 I know biggrin

Everyone goes - oh, what a gorgeous one-handed backhand (because every now and then, one backhnad will connect and the one-hander element has a strong fan base). But it's really not good....

It's a shame because i love one handed backhands, i'd never seen him play before this week, watched an earlier round match which he won and thought it was bad then, but hoped it was just a bad day, today was worse, although Thompson was always going to be able to exploit it.
