Old members

I was looking through a list of our members and some of the bigger posters and noticed there are a good number who are on the "first page" of posters who don't appear to be around anymore. I just wondered if anyone remembered them (before my time) and what happened to them? Shame they dont post anymore but lives move on I guess.

The ones on the first page that havent posted in a good while (a few years)

Madeline

Count Zero

Drew

Salmon

RJA

Philwrig

imoen

Michael D. - I remember Michael actually, he was a big poster until mid 2019 or so and then just stopped; he was a big fan of the womens game if I recall.

I joined this message board in July 2005. At that time it was known as the Andy Murray Messageboard and all the discussions were about Andy. From memory, there was British Tennis Zone, Greg Rusedski forum and GBtennisgirls as well as Menstennisforum and WTAworld (that became Tennisforum). Over time BTZ, GR forum and GBtennisgirls seemed to lose momentum, while this forum expanded the topics covered as posters from other forums joined.

Count Zero - was a friend/fan of Alex Bogdanovic. When he stopped playing, Count Zero moved on to more important things. I think he was on GR forum and possibly BTZ too. I think he moved here because that's where the british tennis discussion was happening, rather than being interested in Andy Murray.

Philwrig - I saw Phil and his awful patriotic hat on tv at I think it was the GB v Czech BJK cup tie on clay; he may have been playing an instrument, in between the points. It is not unusual for him to be present at Fed/BJK Cup events. He has a twitter account that I looked at once. Seems to follow several sports. Can't remember if he posts on other tennis forums.

I have wondered about RJA. I suspect he died but could be wrong. I thought he was one of the best posters on here.

Not to mention his Union Jack waist coat.

I remember Philwrig on here, and I believe he has been present at all the Fed/BJK events in recent years - I have spotted that hat on many occasions.

I don't remember the others though - think most of them were mainly active before I joined (June 2016) - or posted in sections I didn't really read.

As kundalini says, I thought RJA was an excellent poster - and also think he probably has passed away

When Jon says, "shame they dont post anymore but lives move on I guess", I think the more likely answer for several is that life has moved on in a rather permanent way.

I rather miss Ratty too - we used to spat but it made me laugh

I've just found a pic on his twitter that features the hat, the waist coat, Heather, Jo Konta, Laura Robson, Anne K and Joss Rae (?)

That is sad re Madeline , yes I saw a permanent pinned post on that. I imagine CD is right re others , and it is interesting to hear about some .

Michael D is the only one I knew and he stopped quite suddenly and then I remember him saying he would be back and then never actually came back.

Both Count Zero and Salmon were thorns in Steven's side. Salmon was against authority and the Count defended Alex. Both were entertaining.

Drew was a friend / help for Steven as was Imoen and Philwrig was always game to go on whatever trip was planned - to watch tennis eg Davis Cup.

Honestly as someone who was here under a different name and then lurked and re-joined, some of the posters here can be rude and argumentative.
