Reading some of these comments about the conditions I really do not know how the players put up with it. Ok this may be the other end of tennis away from the packed stadiums and fancy tour events and slams, but, these players are fighting to improve their game and climb the rankings. Does anyone know what the drop out rate is with tennis because there must be many players who sadly have to gibe up because of lack of money. It's about time that less money was put in right at the top of the game. Does a slam winner really need nearly 3 million and more money given at the lower levels to help players just get from A to B. As for the facilities there is no excuse these days for leaky roofs, cold conditions, no spare practice courts etc. If adequate facilities that are safe and proper for all cannot ne met then the event in question should not be allowed to go ahead. Simple as.....

 100% agree!

I'm not sure the answer is that simple however. Whilst I do agree the players do deserve to be treated well, if the alternative was that the event didn't take place at all and it takes away their ability to get some money and points then perhaps they would put up with the inconvenience.

Paulisi was correct. The unknown WC went to . . . . . Sonay

Indeed. There was a lot of criticism.about the previous lack of GB ITF events. So, yes while it is a pity to hear about such problems ( and what can reasonably be done to avoid these clearly should be ) I very much doubt that they would prefer the no event alternative.

Yes, I can see the points you both make and I agree in many ways. But it's not right for inadequate facilities to have to be used. Certainly not somewhere like the UK. Nobody is suggesting the venue is going to be super lavish but freezing cold and leaky roofs does not really make a good point. I just think if all the money that is given at the very top of the game was not as much then there would be better money for these lower ranked players and maybe some better funding for the facilities. I may be talking nonsense here and certainly don't have the answers but imagine if a player was to slip because of a leaky roof, break their leg or ankle and be out the game for months there would be uproar. Health and safety should be a priority regardless of what level event it is. I just think these players deserve a little more than they are expected to put up with.

Must be difficult when you have to play one of your best mates in the first round - Katy v Beth

Not a great set of draws, but quite a few have a half decent chance of progression.

I don't think we could have had any better set of draws.

We've avoided the top three seeds.

Seven players are playing against completely unseeded players

It's a W60 - it was always going to be tough

Let's just hope Beth can take to the court and get through the match feeling well. Such a shame that when it was finally clicking into place and she was moving up inside the top 300 she had the set back with her heart.

Not the best of draws. Katy and Beth have been training together quite a lot recently as well as being good friends. Katy appears to have recovered from her recent ankle injury but I'm not sure just how Beth is right now.

I think it's great that Katy and Beth have drawn each other - they're both crying out for decent victories at the moment, but pushed to get them at this level, so at least one of them will

Love to see 15 year-old Teodora Prisadnikova is in the doubles - shame there's a BYE

Sonay and Lily are both a set up.
Didn't realise Sonay hadn't won a match on tour for over 3 months

She has not played many either. She had not put her name down for this tournament even though she will soon have so many points to defend.
