Boys & Girls: J100 Glasgow (indoor, hard) - Week 3

In the boys the top four seeds are:

Niels Ratiu (BEL)

Viktor Frydrych

Charlie Robertson

WilliamRejchtman Vinciguerra (SWE)

Slightly unfortunately, Dilhan Wasantha has been drawn against Viktor in the first round

Conor Brady, who made the semis, in a recent GB J4 event, has drawn the top seed

Girls draws to come....

In the girls, the top 4 seeds are:

Nao Nishino (JPN)
Loes Koning (NED)
Sarah Fajmanova (CZE)
Nela Jandova (CZE)

So if our girls are going to do well, they're going to have to break down those seeds !

However, we have a strong turnout, with players likw Hannah Read, Mika, Erin Pearce, and others....

A couple of nice looking wins for the boys:

Ilias Worthington beat the number four seed, and much higher ranked player, Vinciguerra, 6-7 7-5 7-6.

Similarly Enrico Franchi beat the older, higher ranked Venezuelan Hidalgo, 4-6 6-4 6-2

Wins also for Luca Bluett, Zachariah Hamrouni, Kyle McKay and Finn Lester.

Losses for Marcus McLaren and Jack Deveney.

Hannah Read is through in the girls with a straightforward win 6-2 6-1. Amalia Widdowson, Guilia Lesa and Sarah Copley all go out to higher ranked opponents.

Mika and Erin also won so (with Hannah R) the three from above are all through.

Abby Kelliher also got the win

In the girls, wins too for Jaqui O, and young Arabella Loftus

Not going too well in the girls, with losses for Abby and Erin and Arabella

My pick of Hannah Read has got a win, though

And Mika is still to play, and Jaqui (who's practically 18 and so a lot older than most here)

A very nice win for 14 year-old Mika, over the top seed (Nao) closes off the R2 matches, leaving just the two GB girls in the quarters

In the girls, Hannah Read crashes out, but young Mika posts another excellent result and is the only GB girl left in the singles

Very impressive to beat much higher ranked players back to back, especially at such a young age. Well done Mika.

Charlie Robertson makes the semis. Henry Jefferson goes out in a tight match against the number one seed in two tiebreaks. Zech Hamrouni also out and Victor's result not yet out.

Mika will play a Danish girl who has had two really long matches in her last two rounds (won a third set TB today)

Charlie took care of the top seed very handily to make the final.

I believe that the last time Charlie played Viktor, it was Vik who won in two sets (in Loughborough last year). Not sure it will be so easy this time....

The boys doubles final will see Charlie & Henry taking on teh Swedish third seed pair (who beat Luca & Viktor)

Erin & Hannah R have conceded a walkover in their doubles semi-final

Might be injured - or one of them might have a play at Sunderland ?

And Hannah Rylatt and Millie Skelton lost their semis so no GB interest in the girls' doubles final

And a title for young Mika !

Mika beat the Danish girl, 7-6(5) 4-6 6-3

Still only age 14 - this is a BIG title

And, as expected, Charlie had too much for Viktor this time

Charlie def. Viktor, 6-2 6-2
