Weeks 3 & 4 - Australian Open - men's singles (outdoor hard)

I'm so excited for Jack vs Nadal - great to get that exposure this early on, and what a time to play Rafa. My big hope is that it isn't too hot.

Any sense of when they'll play - is there a tradition (like at Wimbledon) for when the reigning champ kicks off?

Yes, very excited also.   Not thinking it a bad draw at all.

Andy's first pro meeting with Rafa was in the 2007 Australian Open R4 when he lost in 5 sets in R4.

Jack's first pro meeting with Rafa will be in the 2023 Australian Open R1 when?

The top half of the draw plays Monday. So Jack and Cam are not going to have much rest after Adelaide and Auckland. Kyle will play then as well.

Rogue/annoying choice not to have Rafa vs Draper as the night match

Indeed Jack is on 3rd , estimated around 3.30 am.

Cam is also third on court 3

Kyle opens on John Cain which looks like the third showcourt?

Stu Fraser's report in yesterday's Times which records Cam Norrie's & Jack Draper's wins in Auckland & Adelaide & also Andy's in the Kooyong Classic exhibition event (in Melbourne & the home of the AO from 1972 to 1987, when it was still being played on grass) after a battle with Zhang Zhizhen (WR 97) as part of their preparations for the AO.

Andy went on to beat Alex de Miñaur (WR 24) by 3 & 3 in his next matchsmile

Pay Cash said Andy played really well in this one after being poor against the Chinese player in his earlier match. Sweet timing and better movement but said he seems to struggle with lower balls these days

 Amusingly appropriate typo!

L128:  (15) Jannik Sinner (ITA) WR 16 defeated (PR) Kyle Edmund WR 583 by 4, 0 & 2

Kyles scrapped a bit, especially in the last game of the third set, but just didn't have the firepower to get the better of Sinner.
