I thought David mentioned that Isabelle had gone off on the Latin American swing in juniors? Guess there's a change of plan (or I remember wrong)

It's in Costa Rica in a couple of weeks. Phoenix is also entered and is playing in the men's comp.

Usual ridiculous favouritism towards very young players. 14 yr olds should be directed first towards Junior ITF events and then only given wild cards into qualis.

It's disappointing to see Beth drawn against Eliz in the first round. I would have liked to see them both get through a couple of rounds at least.

So who would you have given the WCs to?

On the subject of wildcards, strange to me that Brooke Black has been given so many of them for qualies, including this event, when she is still outside the top 500 in junior rankings - see https://www.tennisexplorer.com/player/black-a5c31/?annual=all

Perhaps a parental strategy to have her play against older, tougher players and if the LTA is willing to offer them (possibly influenced by who her father is) then I can't blame Brooke for accepting, though there might be better candidates for these on paper.

Not this again. Why do folk think she's had a lot of WCs. Brooke Black has never had any WCs to pro events. Every one of her entries is a direct entry at sign in. She can't be blamed if she shows up to 25Ks and other British girls don't.

Oh dear, Garland goes out to Dartron in straights. Really annoyed with herself at the end.

Good news surely! The top seed out of the way.

To be honest I'm hopeful she'll switch to GB at some point. She lives in Stevenage I believe.

Potential upset coming up. Isabelle Lacy is currently 4-1 up in final set of her match against the higher-ranked Bagaric. The decimal odds for Lacy were 4.00 at the start of the match.

Good win for Isabelle and some nice points. Would be good for the good juniors to climb the rankings so they no longer need wildcards.
Talia is almost there in terms of rankings and Isabelle is going in the right direction. Just need Hep, Ella, Ranah and potentially Hannah K(from March) to play more ITF comps and move up the rankings. Ella and Rana should only be playing junior GS now IMHO.

I hope so, Densher - she's my wildcard this year

I don't really care too much about the youngsters' rankings - certainly not Hep, Mimi, Hannah, and not that much for the others too - what matters is their tennis. Which is linked, but not the same. Matilda got her ranking well up but the tennis was slightly questionable...

However, as part of a well-thought out programme, it's obviously important to play adult matches, and wins like today's for Isabelle are lovely to see
