Lucy lost 2 & 3 against the top seed. Given Roach will be next to try her hand against the top seed.

Abigail Amos was serving for the match at 5-3 in the 2nd and then Kate Mansfield won four in a row and won the tie break [10-4]

 Evidently 14 deuces according to the ITF 'momentum'. Still indeed a lot. Abigail had 5 hold points and Kate broke on her 10th BP.

Given Roach is in an interesting battle with the top seed. Given seemed to be doing most of the attacking but despite several close games Tess was able to return enough to win all the games in the first set. In the 2nd set Given seemed to attack even more but also got more consistent and ran out the winner of that set 6-1.

Given raced to a big lead and then seemed to take her foot off the gas and let Tess come back to level the score and finally take the decider 14-12.

Yes, I see that Given was *8-2 up in the MTB, had 5 MPs at *9-4, before losing 6 points in a row, and had further MPs at *11-10 and 12-11*.

Given was totally dominant through the 2nd and up to 8-2 in the decider, she had the match all but won. She was attacking with strong ground strokes, good angles and rushing to the net to finish the point. Then she seemed to sit back and wait for Tess to make a mistake but Tess had already demonstrated in the first set that she doesn't make mistakes, you have to win your points against Tess. A couple of good lessons for Given for the future, a match is not won until the last point and don't change a winning strategy.
