Play today starts with quad singles matches across the board, Andy plays David Wagner in his opening group match.
A reminder on format - each of the mens, womens and quad singles events are 8 player fields in two round robin groups, semis and final. Just like the ATP or WTA year end events.
In doubles, mens is also an 8 draw, womens is a field of 6 pairs in 2 groups of 3 and then a final (no semis) and the quad event is a 4 pair round robin, with the top 2 facing off in the final.
A marvellous win for Andy over the 3rd seeded Wagner, 6-2 6-2. Backs up running the 2nd seed close yesterday. Should put him into a winner takes all final RR match against Robert Shaw of Canada for a marvellous place in the last 4

Well done Andy, great!
Andy is ranked 8th and Shaw is 9th in quad singles. However, Andy has an 8-0 career H2H record over Shaw, including a win in the US Open in September in 3 sets. Wonderful opportunity for Andy.
On the other hand, Alfie won and boy did he win - 6-0, 6-0!
So our second day of singles finishes - Alfie is 1-0 , Gordon is 0-1 and Andy is now 1-1.
Andy is well placed to progress now, Alfie and Gordon are in the same group and much could depend on their H2H in the group stages as to who progresses to the semis.
Alfie/Gordon, Andy and Lucy all playing doubles later
In what is turning into a really excellent set of performances, Andy and David Wagner are 5 all in the 3rd in their opening doubles group match, 3rd seeds versus 2nd seeds. Andy is fighting all the way this week and turning in some epic performances so far. Hope they can see this across the line!
Mens singles - after one round of play, Alfie leads Group B (1-0) and Gordon is 3rd (0-1). Alfie plays Fernandez today (beat Gordon in round 1 and beat Alfie last week in the Catalonia Open). Gordon plays Japanese Sanada. Gordon should win, but Alfie will find it tough and I would make Fernandez slight favourite here. Could all come down to Alfie versus Gordon in the final round of matches to determine who goes through. These matches are first on court at 10 am
Mens doubles - Alfie and Gordon lead Group A with a 2-0 record, and play Arai and Sanada today. They arent definitely through but will be with just 1 set today, but should be favourites to win. This match is scheduled 4th on court at NB 3 pm
Womens doubles - Lucy and partner lost their opener and are bottom of their group with a 0-1 record. They play group leaders Kimiji and Montjane today; they will need to win by more than a straight set and 7 game margin to progress eg 6-2 6-2. Tall order and dont expect them to make it any further. 3rd on court timed at NB 1 pm
Quad singles - Andy had played v well so far and is 2nd in his group (1-1). He plays Robert Shaw of Canada today (also 1-1) and it is winner takes all. Whoever comes out on top, reaches the semis. Andy is ranked 8th and Shaw is ranked 9th and got into the field as a alternative, he has also done very well. Andy holds an 8-0 career H2H over Shaw, though, and won their last match in New York in 3 sets. Andy is probably slight favourite but it will be tough - Shaw beat Andy in the doubles yesterday. This match is 2nd on court at NB 11am.
Quad doubles - Andy and partner David Wagner lost their opener yesterday after a tough MTB finish. Today they play Masaryk and Silva, who also lost their opening match. It is a must win, as they need to win this and then their final group match to get into the top 2 and qualify for the final in a 4 team event. They should win today, but qualifying will be tough. First things first though. Match is 4th on court at NB 3 pm
Well Andy won but it was on a retirement when leading 5-2 first set. But we will take that and , if I am right, it puts Andy (seeded 8) into the semis in this event for the top 8 players. Great effort!
It may also impact the doubles as it was Shaw and partner who Andy lost to yesterday. Not sure if Shaw will be out of doubles as well, but a win for Andy in this afternoons doubles may well be a significant one!

If Im correct, Andy will play world number one, Niels Vink, in the quad semis. Big challenge but a free hit id say and nothing to lose.
Lucy lost her second doubles comfortably and ends with a 0-2 record, and out of the event. She wasnt in singles so thats it for Lucy. Not sure if she is playing any other smaller events before year end but in terms of meaningful events that I follow , it is over and out for 2024.
