2023 ITF Wheelchair Tour

Sadly Gordon couldnt keep it up and is 6-1 5-0 down as i write , so assume he is going out.

Next event for the Brits is the British Grass Courts - as Lambda posted above, womens and quad events are in Eastbourne, mens in Queens. Action kicks off 23rd June, next Friday.

Mens British Grass court draw is out for Queens - womens and quads will be next week so not out yet. Being honest, it is a weak draw and the odds of anyone but Alfie, Gordon, Houdet and Gerard coming through to the semis is too small to even consider. Fernandez and de La Puente obviously withdrew late and let in Andrew Penney (good luck to him) and the Indian player who is up against Gordon

the top 4 players all won, and very comfortably, as expected. So Alfie plays Gordon in one semi and Houdet plays Gerard in the other

Alfie and Joachim Gerard, top 2 seeds, both won their semis easily and play in tomorrows final.

Alfie and Gordon play the doubles final against Gerard and Houdet

Thanks Indy - shame for Alfie; Alfie and Gordon must surely hope to win the doubles at Wimbledon, singles for Alfie will be a tough ask, Oda will be favourite

For some reason, the ITF site has lost any track of the womens and quad events from Eastbourne, as has the LTA site - anyone any idea what the draws are??

More widely, the entry lists are up for the British Open in early August, which is from Nottingham, and is a Super Series event

www.lta.org.uk/fan-zone/international/british-open-wheelchair-tennis-championships/event-guide/player-entry-list/

Men - Gordon Reid and Dermot Bailey (Alfie has withdrawn)

Womens - Lucy Shuker, Cornelia Oosthuizen, Debbie Brazier, Helen Bond

Quad - Andy Lapthorne, Richard Green, Greg Slade, Antony Cotterill, James Shaw, Gary Cox

All seem to be 16 draw events at this stage

Lucy into the womens semis, only Brit left, after beating fellow Brit Ruby Bishop.

Greg Slade won the quad opening match in an all British draw. Favourite, Andy Lapthorne , plays today and he and Greg will most likely play for the tournament tomorrow.
