after last weeks week 41 action, Hannah Read and Maia Lumsden have joined the group of players on 5 titles. With 7 weeks of the counting season left, in theory anyone could top the 6 titles mark still, but realistically it is among this group below to come out top of the titles race for 2023

Player WINS
Alfie Hewett 6
Mingge Xu 6
Benjamin Gusic Wan 5
Brooke Black 5
Hannah Klugman 5
Hannah Read 5
Luke Johnson 5
Maia Lumsden 5
Mark Ceban 5
Charlie Robertson 4
Emily Appleton 4
Gordon Reid 4
Grace Chinwike 4
Henry Searle 4
Jamie Murray 4
Johannus Monday 4
Marcus Willis 4
Naiktha Bains 4
Sarah Beth Grey 4

Charlie Robertson moves to 5 titles and it is going to be an interesting final 6 weeks between a fair number of players who could top this little league - Charlie has won 3 itf juniors singles, 1 doubles (todays title) and the nationals doubles back in April to accrue his 5.

Looking at the list , JoMo and JaMu (trying my best) could both reach 5 titles each this weekend, both with finals to come

And JoMo gets his 5th title of the season; Ill update the full leaderboard for titles won later tomorrow. But the players on 6 or 5 is starting to look quite crowded.

I have updated the titles won list for end week 42 - I base this on Indy's lists but he hasnt had time to update weeks 41 and 42 yet so I will amend mine if end up having missed someones title or got it wrong! Indy's list is the formal board account of notable wins which basically includes:

ATP, WTA and ITF singles and doubles wins
Junior ITF Tour singles and doubles wins
Wheelchair grand slam wins, singles and doubles

Plus Indy tends to record team title wins from DC, BJK, and important world junior and wheelchair team title equivalent which I add to the team members tally

Plus Indy records things like national junior titles at different age groups, and I expect he will also include the Wheelchair Tour Finals titles as well as other tour finals titles if we win them.

So, that all said, the list of players with 3 titles wins or more is listed below - there are 41 of them who have titles within the above items that Indy records ( I think!)

In week 41 and 42 a number of players have made the top of the list more crowded!! We now have 2 players on 6 titles, 11 on 5 or more, 19 on 4 or more and 41 on 3 or more. I will stop my counting at week 48 end (ie 3rd December) so there are 6 weeks left now. I expect only the Wheelchair Masters Tour Finals Singles and Doubles to get included now, so Alfie could possibly reach 8 titles, probably will reach 7, but could end on 6. So the benchmark to reach is probably going to be 7 titles. Anyone not on 3 already, with 6 weeks left, will struggle to win 5 or more titles in 6 weeks, I would say. And 4 or even 3 is probably a stretch. But being generous, this is probably the realistic list of players who potentially could top the titles list in 6 weeks time.

Player WINS
Alfie Hewett 6
Mingge Xu 6

Benjamin Gusic Wan 5
Brooke Black 5
Charlie Robertson 5
Hannah Klugman 5
Hannah Read 5
Johannus Monday 5
Luke Johnson 5
Maia Lumsden 5
Mark Ceban 5

Emily Appleton 4
Gordon Reid 4
Grace Chinwike 4
Henry Searle 4
Jamie Murray 4
Marcus Willis 4
Naiktha Bains 4
Sarah Beth Grey 4

Alfie King 3
Andy Murray 3
Arthur Fery 3
Ben Jones 3
Dan Little 3
Emile Hudd 3
George Loffhagen 3
Giles Hussey 3
Harriet Dart 3
Jacob Fearnley 3
James Davis 3
Jay Clarke 3
Jodie Burrage 3
Julian Cash 3
Lauryn John-Baptiste 3
Luca Pow 3
Luke Hooper 3
Mika Stojsavljevic 3
Oscar Weightman 3
Scott Duncan 3
Stuart Parker 3
Viktor Frydrych 3

The player of the season wild card nominations thread will start this week and be posted Wednesday , once October player of the month is done.

Be sure to look out , it will be a separate thread and anyone can add names until we reach a max of 20 nominations. Vote will be after November player of the month.

Here is the updated leaderboard for titles wins at end of week 43. With 5 weeks left in the counting season, it is hard to see anyone from below this list coming through to top the table, but you never know!

The main moves this week are Maia joining Alfie and Mimi at the top of the table; and Julian and Emile coming onto 4 titles as well.

Player WINS
Alfie Hewett 6
Maia Lumsden 6
Mingge Xu 6

Benjamin Gusic Wan 5
Brooke Black 5
Charlie Robertson 5

Emily Appleton 4
Gordon Reid 4
Grace Chinwike 4

In terms of places available in the Player of the Season field in December, 20 places are secured at this stage. We are looking for a field of 28. Places left to fill are:

October PoM winner - will be known tomorrow
October PoM RU -will be known tomorrow
November PoM winner - will be determined 5th Dec
November PoM RU - will be determined 5th Dec

and then:

Womens doubles #1 - will be determined 4th Dec rankings (Maia leading the way and looks like it is now between her and Heather)
Junior girls #1 - will be determined 4th Dec rankings (Mimi leading the way, although Heather is close and it could depend on whether either of them plays junior events in November).
Most 3rd/4th place positions in PoM votes - will be determined 5th Dec (Katy Dunne currently leading the way, but very close and will depend on outcomes of Oct and Nov PoM)
Most tournament titles - will be determined 3rd Dec (currently a 3 way tie between Alfie, Mimi and Maia - all 3 of which are qualified (Alfie) or in leading positions (Maia and Mimi)

If all these 8 places above get filled by players not already qualified, then we will have 28 players and not need any wild cards.

BUT, October could well be 2 players already qualified, and the most tournament titles position could well go to someone qualifying through other means. And who knows re November PoM.

So we could very well end up with up 5 wild card positions needing to be completed. So this is where the wild card process starts to kick in. From Wednesday, Nov 1, I will be asking for nominations for possible player of the season wild cards from players not already qualified. So long as we have more nominations than places to fill, we will have a wild card vote on Dec 6th/7th to get those wild cards determined.

Look out for a separate thread which will be started Wednesday 1st November - anyone can nominate as many wild card contenders as they wish, the only limit will be a total of 20 nominations across the board, to ensure we only need one single vote.

It looks like we will exit this months October vote with 20 or maybe 21 confirmed entries to PoS. Although I was aiming at 28 players in the main PoS field, I dont want those to all be wild cards, as it undermines the process! So, it may be numbers point towards a field of 24 instead of 28 for the PoS votes in December - if it sticks at 28 it would be 4 groups of 7; 24 would be easy as 4 groups of 6; Either way, I dont want to land on more than 4 wild cards being needed - we had 2 last season.

We wont know until the end of November though.

Wild card nominations, and vote, regardless, will take place so the thread for that will go up tomorrow!

What's the hurry?  aww

I agree you won't get many more votes but probably get some and some folk might miss out that would have liked to have voted. And while unlikely it could effect a close contest.
