Votes in 2023 have been a consistent 42, 44, and 42 again. So we seem to have hit a level , which is good.

That is around 15 percent up on the average for last year, which is good and well ahead of 2021 and 2020 when this all started.

Next polls will be as follows:

April PoM vote - April 30th
May Pom vote - May 28th (French Open starts that Sunday).

June Pom vote - July 2nd (Wimbledon starts 3rd)
July Pom vote - July 30th
August Pom vote - August 27th (US Open starts 28th)
Sept Pom vote - October 1st
October Pom vote - October 29th
November Pom vote - November 26th

And then Player of the season will aim to finish around December 16/17 or so.

We had 32 votes in May, worst of the season but, in fact, it was the best May month ever, strangely.

Given 2020 was a covid year we cant count that but the other years look like this:

2021
27 Jan
34 Feb
27 Mar
26 Apr
23 May

Average 27.4

2022
41 Jan
35 Feb
39 Mar
35 Apr
31 May

Average 36.2

2023
42 Jan
44 Feb
42 Mar
42 Apr
32 May

Average 40.4

So we are still well up on past years overall for Jan to May

The average per month is:

Jan 36.7
Feb 37.7
Mar 36.0
Apr 34.3
May 28.7

May seems to have reasonable drop each year, so this years drop just continues the theme and makes me feel better. I am guessing it is because it is half term and a bank holiday at the end of May, and this takes a few folks away? Hard to think what else, unless people turn off tennis a little with the clay.

However, July also turns out to be a quiet month based on past records, I think a post Wimbledon malaise, maybe, but also the vote takes place around the start of the school holidays at the end of July/early August. So two things - holidays and slam malaise - seem to impact those two months.

Which I found quite enlightening!! lLbeit based on 3 years data, it feels reasonable ... and makes me feel better!!

So 5 months out of 11 in to the season and the interesting thing is the lack of anyone jumping up in more than one month

1 Dec/Jan PoM Andy Murray (1)
2 Dec/Jan PoM RU Mark Ceban (2)
3 Feb PoM Cam Norrie (3)
4 Feb PoM RU Hannah Klugman (4)
5 Mar PoM Jodie Burrage (5)
6 Mar PoM RU Billy Harris (6)
7 Apr PoM Fran Jones (7)
Apr PoM RU (Hannah Klugman)
8 May PoM George Loffhagen (8)
9 May PoM RU Amelia Rajecki (9)

Hannah K is the only player to be on the top 2 in more than one month - could she be regarded as the player of the first half of the season so far? Whatever, from a British perspective , it is a wide open season and player of the season could be the most open of all the ones we have had to date!

We have now average a tad over 40 votes per event this season, 6 months in. Which is around 4 per monthly vote up on last season on average. But we seem to have hit a ceiling around high 30's/early 40's.

Putting aside that the summer votes always appear slightly slower/ fewer votes than the winter ones and that pattern is similar to last year and the year before, it would be good to hit higher numbers. I suspect this month would have been higher if the final had been two days, instead of one, but the one day was a result of having semis.

But what I would love to see is not one or two more votes per month, but consistently hitting 50, 60 or why not 100 plus. Something like 1300 people visited this forum in the past 24 hours and most of those would be members. I am not sure if anyone has any great ideas on how we can get more voters to take part, but it would authenticate it and , also, make it much more interesting if over 100 people voted.

I would love to hear good ideas that might help as I am out of them for now!! Just PM / DM me or post here, I am open to all ideas that are productive and positive!!

Thanks again to all for taking part!

Im told there have only, in fact , been 104 members on the site in the past 24 hours, and maybe 150 over the week. So 40 or so votes isnt too bad.

Im getting confused with visitor numbers, which raises the wider issue of why so many visitors arent members, but that isnt for me:

For now, a 40 percent voting rate isnt too bad, so I wont worry any longer !

Ha, thank you to whoever told you that we 'only' had 104 members signed on in the previous 24 hours.

That figure does seem right from my occasional looks at how many members are on and the range of these members. It was never the hugely bigger figure that Jon was imagining.

Congrats to Katie B, and thanks again Jon for all that you do with this. Now chill

Thanks Indy - indeed and I am happier now I know the stats , although I do think there is scope for a more consistent voting level in the higher 40 to 50 range. I will chill more though , for now!

Brooke Black 4
Charlie Robertson 4
Gordon Reid 4
Hannah Klugman 4
Hannah Read 4
Henry Searle 4
