As commented on, I will be changing some of the formats for this next season, for the better. Here are the changes:
1) The PoM process will run from December 2023 (this months nominations thread is up already) to end of December 2024. There will be 13 months of PoM's counting into the 2024 PoS process. In 2025, we will run Jan 25 to end Dec 25. The extra month this next year is to start to include December as a voting month for the PoM, as it has been merged with January in the past
2) The Player of the Season vote for 2024 will take place early January 2025. So, after Xmas and the New Year as opposed to just before it.
3) The qualifiers for PoS will be the winner and RU in each of the 13 PoM votes; and each of the leading Brits in the respective World Rankings of mens singles, doubles, womens singles and doubles, and junior boys and girls. In addition, any British player winning a grand slam title in mens and womens singles, doubles, mixed doubles, junior boys and girls singles and doubles, and wheelchair mens, womens, quad singles and doubles will get a place in Player of the season.
4) If we had used that qualification process this year, we would have ended up with the same number of qualifiers, just a slightly amended approach to reward what I think people really value more, ie winning slams as a key part of the game based on the voting in this event and past years
5) We will remove the qualification routes for Most tournament wins and best 3rd place PoM finishes
6) We will keep the wildcard nominations process and voting as is, it worked well and 2 of the wildcards did really well this season in the PoS vote.
7) We will keep it all as a mixed event - mens and womens together and not split them. We could split in various ways and ChrisT summarised well why it seems to work.
8) The PoM votes will continue as one single monthly vote unless there are more than 20 nominations or we have players nominated in more than one way eg singles and doubles or singles and team etc. To avoid conflicting votes where possible
9) The PoS vote will continue as 3 rounds of voting with round one groups, semis and final - this seems to work well.
There is one big question I will still pose to the board and that surrounds wheelchair players and how we include the wheelchair game in this process. I am a big supporter of the wheelchair sport and maybe the person on here who posts about it and follows it the most. It doesnt mean to say that it works for everyone or that we have it right. Once the PoS Final is done, I will post some "big" questions to gather views on the wheelchair game and its inclusion in this process.
