there's the 'TS Open Tour - Scottish Clay Court Championships' event this week which is a Grade 2 British Tour event

The women's side, tbh, is pretty weak

But the men's has Alexis Canter and Ewan Moore as top two seeds which is pretty decent for a G2 event

As this is a Tennis Scotland Open Tour highest tier event the prize money is significantly more than at a LTA BT G2 event with it being just below that of a BT Premier tier event.

The winner gets £1,250 compared with usually £300 for a G2.
RU gets £750 compared with usually £150.
SFs get £400 compared with usually £75.

Thanks - why do they call it a G2 event then? What makes an event G2, apart from the money? And if the money isn't G2, then how is it G2, if you see what I mean?

(surprised the women's side is so weak, too, given the better prize money)

Without wishing to detract from CD good question re G2 events etc, I noticed there are only really a few British Tour events left this year. It seemed to me that the number of events is a lot thinner this season and the autumn events very thin, is that my poor memory or has it thinned out compared to past recent seasons?

It is slightly down on previous years in the September to November period - 7 this year and 9 in 2018, 2021 and 2022, 8 in 2019. But there are the same number of events over the whole year this year compared to last year as there were more events at the beginning of the year. Hull is missing from the calendar this year that has been on the tour in all those years. Redbridge has been in the autumn the last couple of years but was in March this year.

In the 'TS Open Tour - Scottish Clay Court Championships' event (purportedly a Grade 2 British Tour event but actually with far higher prize money - see Lambda above), the semis are as follows:

(1) Alexis Canter v (3) Liam Hignett

(2) Ewan Moore v (4) Nico Rosenzweig

That's a tast line-up, with three ATP ranked players, and Nico who used to be top-700 too (glad to see our crazy ambidextrous Frenchman is still going strong

)

As before, the women/girls is a lot lower
