Someone who is a Twitter user should tweet this result out - Bob or Steven maybe? I think we have in past years!

Congrats Jack. There would have had a 47th vote but I hadn't realised the poll would be so early in December, I was too busy to come on here over the weekend and when I logged on this morning, voting had already closed - the perils of being 5 time zones behind you!

Thanks Jon for all the effort you have put into doing this over the last three years - you're right, the work that gets done week in week out on the elements that provide a framework for the board is a huge part of what makes it such a good resource and keeps people coming back.

Edit: I can certainly tweet out the result.

Funnily enough, I don't seem to be able to vote on my own poll, but that doesn't matter. I'm guessing the Twitter poll will give much the same result as yours but it'll be interesting. I get the impression I have an even higher proportion of dedicated-to-doubles followers than this board, odd as that may seem given that my tweets usually ignore doubles until late in the week!

51 votes in now and the only differences between the Twitter poll and the one here are that 1st and 4th are further ahead/adrift (Jack has got just over 50%, Sonay trailing with 6%) and Julian/Henry are edging Neal for 2nd place. No write-in votes yet, so it seems the forum's final four aren't that controversial (I was expecting a few Harriet and/or Lloyd fans to pipe up - of course, they might well still do so!)

I voted for Neal but nobody can deny that Jack has had a breakthrough year and is a very deserving winner of this accolade.

Congrats to all 5 players who made the final.

I see that the number of forum visitors jumped up last night and also the number of views of this thread jumped a lot as well - must be directly related to Steven posting the link on Twitter. Not sure if it has led to any new members as well, would be nice if that happened but not sure we can see that data.

Ha - before any of the Player of the Season votes - which is a shame - I like to think people sign up to take part in stuff like this but sadly it seems they dont!!

At least it means people aren't creating extra accounts to try and boost their favourites!!!
