So that is it - Our Player of the Season is decided and it is JACK DRAPER

well done to Jack and also well done to Neal, Julian/Henry and Sonay for reaching the final

So, as Indy stated, that is me over and out. I love PoM and PoS, and really hope it carries on going. If there was someone willing to take it forwards as a commitment, please shout. If it needs splitting up so maybe one person takes it a month at a time, I would be happy to be part of that team and to sign up - we would have to work out the details offline - but I cant keep it going on my own.

We got 46 votes here in the final. With two of the earlier groups, 46 breaks the record for our PoM and PoS polls so that is really great.

Here are some final stats>

PoM and PoS Polls over each season

2020 - 25.75 votes on average
2021 - 30.2 votes on average (17% improvement)
2022 - 37.25 votes on average (23.5% improvement)

Overall, votes have improved by over 40% in total over the past two years

PoS finals

2021 PoS votes (through wildcard, groups, semis and finals) - 298 votes (37.25 average over 8 polls)
2022 PoS votes (through wildcard, groups, semis and finals) - 346 votes (43.25 average over 8 polls) - 48 votes or 16% improvement.

Never quite got the 50 votes, but did get the 40 I craved for a long while so we close on a high.

Let's hope we can continue it in to 2023, somehow

Joe Salisbury has 1 just one PoM (the first in Jan 2020, before Covid was a thing!) and Jack Draper has never won a PoM - Player of the Season and no PoM!! What is that about! Hahaha

Things like the Predictions Thread and this poll help knit the board together, IMO. Very much valued!!

in fact I was thinking the thing that makes this board so much well organised and better than as a resource than say the Tennis Forum / MTF is that structure:

things like

Predictions competition that TA runs
Strongest Nation that Strongbow runs
Monday rankings updates that CD produces across various rankings lists, top 500 etc, and then rankings update graphs from Aberdaberdonian etc
The Friday feeling thread that DF and also Miriam ABC contribute to
The weekly titles thread that Indy does
The college updates that EP and Tennpar provide

Seagull's weekly entry list updates

SC and the mens results and draws updates

PeterToo and the womens results and draws updates, with doubles thrown in by TA


PoM and PoS of course

And I am sure there are many more that I havent included, but they came to mind.

That structure provides a framework and solidity to the board.

That and the fact most foks come here with good community spirit on bonhomie!
