Jodie competing well. Recovered from 1-4 and saved seveal set points at 3-5, only to get broken for the set with a couple of poor errors. Stream on Bet365 (and elsewehere ?)

It sounds a touch condescending to say 'good effort' but it was, really, a very good effort.

Jodie was not that far away at all.

She lost 4 & 4, but was in all the points, was the slightly more aggressive, but the slightly more UE player..... it was a good showing

Yes, very little between the players, just a few more errors from Jodie. It was 3/12 breaks to 5/11 so plenty of close games.

Jodie seems to have got quite a bit of abuse on Instagram from disgruntled punters, several accusations of match fixing among the usual insults.

Ridiculous

Firstly, if the clear favourite wins, it's hard to see how it's match fixing

Secondly, it was a classic Jodie match - she made the running, she had her chances, she made a few too many UEs, and the other woman was very steadfast and knew to hang in there

Despite the difference in rankings the odds were quite close when I looked. Did the punters really expect Jodie to win against the higher ranked player ? There always seems to be plenty of abuse out there - no wonder that a lot of players never read their messages.

Yes, I agree, the odds were close because the GB punters thought Jody could cause an upset - which was not that unreasonable, she was quite close.

But it would have been an upset - the other woman was the clear favourite on ranking - so the idea of match-fixing doesn't make sense.

Bronzetti was on a 7-match losing streak and Jodie won their previous encounter quite easily, so I'm not surprised the odds were close. Ridiculous that sad punters are accusing her of match-fixing though.
