Boys & Girls: JA Plantation, USA, clay (Week 49)

As steven points out:

"Still the only Brit to have won an Orange Bowl 18U singles title 2010 @GeorgeDM10"

One of the major disappointments of the LTA's handling on juniors, IMO .....

(George also won the U14 here - he was such a talent.....)

But also shows how juniors is just juniors, nothing more.....

Good luck to the girls - doubles is such a good idea for youngsters - really like the ITF system of including it in the overall ranking points

 Forgive me - George?

Rnah and Mimi wasted no time, racing into the final after their match was moved following two long singles matches on their scheduled court. It means that Mimi is one game away from a second consecutive Grade A title

Girls Doubles SF

(3) Stoiber/Xu d. Murthy/Rowinska (USA/POL) 6-1 6-1

Girls Doubles F

Grant/Jovic (USA) v (3) Stoiber/Xu

In singles one of the two girls cited above who could overtake Ella has reached the semis and therefore done so- Clervie Ngounoue, so Ella should end the year at position 9. Iva Jovic is also in the semis so could do the double here.

The doubles final is going down to the wire. The Americans took the first set 6-4, Mimi and Ranah the second 6-2 and they are tied at 5-5 in the match tiebreak. No updates for 5 minutes on this or the other match in play, so I guess weather has intervened

No joy in the end. Jovic cannot do the double though after losing to Ngounoue in the singles semi

Girls Doubles F

Grant/Jovic (USA) d. (3) Stoiber/Xu 6-4 2-6 [10-7]

Shame they couldnt take the title but should help boost their rankings.

Excited to see what Mimi can do in the grandslams next year.

Big, big win for Mayu over major favourite, Clervie

Mayu Crossley (JPN) def. (5) Clervie Ngounoue(USA) 1-6 6-3 6-3

It's now over to Hannah K, and the other younger Brits, to show their colours in the Junior Orange Bowl next week.

There will probably be a new thread for the Junior Orange Bowl but just for the time being...

The draw's been done.
Hannah is top seed.
Shamiso Ndoro is in the draw too.

Megan Knight (one year young) is in the U12 draw, as is Sevil Parviz

In the boys, Liam Channon is in the U14, and might be joined by Thomas Lefrance who has his FQR match tomorrow
In the U12, there's Manu Seijas-Wright, Xander Reese, Eric Lorimer, Neo Armus, Aran Selvaraasan, Scott Watson, Niall Pickerd-Barua and Denzell Darkey.

No idea why there's SUCH a heap of U12 boys (unless I've missed a lot in the other sections)

I'm a huge fan of Megan (as well as Hannah, of course) and am also very interested to see how Niall does, after what I've heard.
