The 2023 ITF rulebook has been published. Changes for the women's tour:
* as we know New 40K/40K+H introduced (ranking points TBC) * to hold a 40K, national associations must first agree to hold at least the same number of 60/80/100 tournaments in 2023 as 2022. * 40K rules for the most part aligned with 60Ks * hospitality is now mandatory for 80K/100K (+H removed for these levels) * ball change in 80K/100K after first 7 games then every 9 games * Qualifying in 60/80/100 to return to best of 3 tie-break sets. * 8 qualifiers irrespective of Q draw size in all ITFs * ITF reserves the right to refuse a tournament in a country with no tournament in weeks either side * changes to prize money/ranking points to doubles withdrawals (not sure what's changed atm)
Will need to wait for the WTA to confirm the ranking point structure before we know how the 40K fits in. Perhaps with the remove of +H at 80/100 levels there is some scope to increase 60-100 points to create something sensible if 25s remain unchanged.
Good to see 3 tie-break sets return for the higher tiers and hospitality included at 100K.
There's another document on the ITF website - 5 pages setting out the changes. I haven't read it yet, but I can see there is some detail on the doubles withdrawals points and prizemoney.
