Disappointing day for Stanford. As always the doubles point is a real momentum boost and so it proved. Angelica fought back well from 0-4 second set but wasnt her day and the team as a whole looked a little flat.
Congrats to Esther and her Tennessee team for progressing to the semis and hopefully they keep it going. Texas A&M look ominously strong but the big win over OSU has given Tennessee huge confidence

TCU win a really tight dual match with Ohio State 4-2.
Jack lost his doubles, Jake won his doubles leaving it to Lui's doubles which went to a tie-break which Lui lost giving Ohio State the doubles point, the first point TCU have given away in these championships.
TCU won the 1st sets on courts 1 (Jack), 2 (Jake), 3 and 5 to give a path towards victory.
TCU took straight sets wins on court 5 and then also on court 1 (Jack). But Ohio State won the 2nd sets on courts 2 and 3, and TCU on courts 4 (Lui) and 6 to take all 4 to a 3rd set.
Lui is broken when serving to take his match to a tie-break to lose the third set 5-7 and give Ohio State the point.
Its now TCU 2 Ohio State 2
On court 2 Jake wins his match in the third to put TCU 3-2 up and needing just 1 more win from the remaining two matches
TCU are a break down on courts 6 and 3. Court 3 retrieves the break. On Court 6, from 3-5 down TCU win the next 4 games to win the match and get the clinch.
Court 1: #13 Jack Pinnington Jones d. #34 Justin Boulais 6-4 7-5 Court 2: #7 Jake Fearnley d. #17 Cannon Kingsley 7-5 5-7 6-2 Court 4: #78 Lui Maxted lost to #30 Jack Anthrop 3-6 6-3 5-7
Texas were too strong for Wake Forest with a 4-2. Luca Pow won his doubles and Wake's only singles point. He finishes the season on a 19 match unbeaten run and 25-2 for the dual season, mostly at 5.
So the men's championship final is a repeat of the Big 12 Championship final here last month (2) Texas v (4) TCU
The 2 Big 12 teams are familiar with each other having played 7 times in the last 2 seasons, with 3 of those having championship titles on the line. In 2023 TCU defeated Texas for the National Indoor title and the Big 12 Championship title. Last month Texas won 4-0 to claim the Big 12 Championship title on these very courts. In regular season play this season, TCU won 4-3 at home but lost 4-0 at Texas.
Texas are strong at the top of the singles Likely singles line-up 1: #2 Spizzirri v #13 Pinnington 2: #5 Braswell v #7 Fearnley 4: #90 Pierre-Yves Bailly v #78 Maxted
Fearnley & Vives are 6-0 in doubles, including their last 3 matches being wins over top 5 opposition. It's TCU's first ever National Championship final TCU are guaranteed a top 2 team ranking in the final rankings next week Pinnington has won 9 consecutive matches on court 1. He leads the team with 32-7 in singles play, the most wins for TCU in the Big 12 era.
Tennessees magnificent run comes to an end with a 4-1 defeat to Texas A&M . Esther went down in doubles but pulled off an exceptional 6-3 6-4 win over Mireles on court 6 to give her team their only point. I must confess its the first time I had watched Esther play and she has a lot of variety in her game , mixing up forehand and backhand slice which can take opponents out of their comfort zones and finishes impressively at the net.
So its a Georgia v Texas A& M final as Georgia dismissed a good Pepperdine team 4-0. They have been the stand out teams here in Stillwater and the final is quite difficult to call . Doubles again could be key where both were impressive today. For Georgia to win if they dont win doubles you suspect that their number 1 Vidmanova who has led from the front here will have to take out the number 1 ranked Stoiana which will be a tall order. Otherwise if they win doubles you can see a pathway on courts 3, 5 and 6.
British interest for the women is now over but Millie( seeded 2), Vic, Angelica , Sofia and Grace go again in the individual singles on Monday, along with Millie, Esther, Vic and Amelia Bassett in doubles.

Watching Esther when she was a youngster, I always used to implore her to use more power, and less of the blasted slice
But good to hear that, if it's really going to be your 'thing, at least she's mastered it really well
Men's singles Finn Murgett makes it in after withdrawals to join Johannus, Jack, Jake, Toby and Oliver. Jake, Toby and Oliver move up 1 in seeding to 7, 4 and 6 respectively due to the withdrawal of the 4 seed. Possible monster QFs: JoMo v JPJ, Jake v Spizzirri !!!
Men's doubles Freddy Blaydes, Finn Murgett, Toby Samuel, Johannus Monday all feature.
Women's singles Millie Rajecki, Vic Allen, Angelica Blake, Grace Piper and Sophia Johnson Millie's quarter looks tough. Angelica gets North Carolina's Elizabeth Scotty in R1. Ouch.
Women's doubles' Vic Allen, Millie Bissett and Millie Rajecki
