"Following conference tournament and regional action, Oklahoma State will play host to the 2024 NCAA Team and Individual Championships, taking place from May 16-26."
So the above references to November must be another fall event - I am sure we have been through this before and I have been told all this, so many apologies!
Edit: I've posted this in the prize money thread where it may be better placed for discussion. I'll leave it here for info.
Women's No 2 ranked Reece Brantmeier, with support from her head coach, has filed a lawsuit against the NCAA to seek a ruling to prohibit the NCAA from prohibiting individual sport athletes from collecting prize money.
Brantmeier had to forgo $49,000 in prize money from the US Open in 2021. She is suing for a change in the rules and not claiming damages or the money she has had to forgo.
"It's ridiculous to watch basketball and football players earning hundreds of thousands of dollars, and that is OK under the name, image and likeness (NIL) rules, and then see us work just as hard and say we can't earn money directly from our sport," Brantmeier said in an interview last week.
The lawsuit states "The NCAA should be working to support and encourage student-athletes in individual sports to compete in the highest and most prestigious competitions in their respective sports, including non-NCAA events. Yet, for far too long, through its rules and regulations on prizes and expenses, the NCAA has acted to hinder and impede student-athletes in such pursuits."

I think for this season the team and individual championships are held together,in May, then from the 2024-25 season the individual championships are in November and the Team championships in May. If this year's May individual championships were moved to November then this season's departing players won't have a chance to play the individual championships for this season before they leave.
Baylor University has been approved to host the pilot fall singles and doubles championships, released by the NCAA DI Competition Oversight Committee meeting report.
After being held after the team championship each spring, the singles and doubles championships will play out as their own events during the fall semester for the first time in 2024. With Baylor already playing host to the team championships in May 2025, the Bears will now welcome the nation's top players to Waco twice in the 2024-25 academic year.

Hi Jon,
My understanding is that the NCAA individual championships are being moved to November with effect from the 2024-25 academic year. The qualification for this event will be based on performance of players in autumn 2024, which it seems are the All American Championships, the Regionals and the new Sectional Championships.
The team championships will remain in May.
This years 2023-24 NCAA events , team and individual, will both be held in May, at Oklahoma State as you pointed out.
Personally I dont think the new format is a good idea. Qualification for the individual championships has always been based on a players results over the entire year not just a handful of fall events. It also gIves players who may be playing in a team that is not so strong the opportunity to qualify for the individual championships . Im not sure what the motivation is for such players under the new system. The year end individual rankings will have little significance other than to gain entry into the qualifying events. And for players in their final year of college there is not even that motivation. Similarly players in their freshman year will find it difficult to get into qualifying tournaments like the All American. And I have always thought that linking qualification into national events to performance in regional events is not logical when clearly some regions ( and sections ) are stronger than others.
Maybe Ive misinterpreted the changes but I dont think so.

Thanks Danny, so I had read it right and there is a May 24 and Nov 24 in this calendar year (which are obviously different academic years). I guess May also marked the end of the academic year, whereas Nov might be near the end of the calendar year but is only a shortwhile into the academic year, so could that hinder newer, more junior players as well, in terms of qualifying, or would the new process help them?

Thanks for the clarification!
I dont really see this as being helpful at all to Freshman players since they will struggle to get into the All Americans, except possibly to the pre qualifying and admission through regional tournaments is frankly hit and miss. Under the existing system they have as much chance of qualifying for the May individuals as anyone else since it is based on an entire academic year match results and ranking.
So as I see it, the new system is not great for freshman, its bad for players in their final year and its bad for players based in strong regions and sections.
Other than that its great !
Just one rider to this is that perhaps they will fine tune the pathway to give concessions to strong first year students , set aside some players at the top of the rankings list including exiting seniors and weight the regional entrants to recognise the disparity in levels. However, I doubt that much of this will happen !

Just thinking about this - great that there is some posting activity around college tennis but the thread tends to stray off into results and events, which is great as it is what interests me as opposed to College Signings...but should the title be changed to be all things US College tennis? Or when we get to big events like the NCAA, create a separate event thread? I think there was one attempt at separating signings from events some time ago, but the discussion seems to morph together. Which I dont mind at all, but it seems the title of the thread becomes misleading?!
Usually a thread is created to cover the signings and then 'and general college chat' gets added on to the title when the academic year starts so it becomes the thread for all things US college for that academic year. Perhaps someone with the powers to do so could rename this thread?

That would make sense - it has to be a mod or the thread originator I think.
Jack Pinnington Jones will be on the LTA Mens and Womens Programme from July. I guess this means he's turning pro in the summer and won't be continuing for his final 2 years in college?
For completeness, Jake Fearnley and Toby Samuel will also join the MWP once they've finished college in the summer.
The absence of Millie Rajecki is a bit disappointing if this is the final list, unless she's continuing for a post grad year.
Some big duals this weekend. I've been looking forward to it. I'm hoping that the streams are freely available as I find many US college streams require sign up to ESPN player.
Tonight North Carolina State play North Carolina. With North Carolina's #2 Reese Brantmeier out, this is likely to see #5 Millie Rajecki play reigning NCAA D1 champion #22 Fiona Crawley, although Fiona played at 2 last Sunday with #42 Elizabeth Scotty moved up to court 1. Millie is 2-0 in the H2H against Crawley including a straights set win in the Indoor National Championships in February as NC State pulled off a surprise win against North Carolina. Dual starts 8pm UK. NC State v NC: live stream (track tennis) | live scores
On Sunday TCU have a rematch against Texas. The dual earlier this month was reported to be a classic with TCU coming out 4-3 winners. Texas have the top 2 ranked men with #1 Eliot Spizzirri and #2 Micah Braswell and facing them will probably be #6 Jake Fearnley and #8 JPJ. Jake usually plays at 1 but was injured last week, missing 2 duals and returning on Sunday on court 2. JPJ stepped up to court 1 in all 3 duals last week, winning all 3 and earning himself Big 12 player of the week. Could be a difficult selection choice for the coach. In the dual earlier in the month Jake got the winning point for TCU defeating Eliot in a 3 set epic. That was Jake's first win over Eliot after being winless in the previous 5. Jack has lost both his matches against Micah this season. Starts Sunday 9pm GMT. Unfortunately this looks like it'll only be available on ESPN.
Also tonight Florida State women play Georgia Tech. That could see some British match ups with Vic Allen, Millie Bissett and Eva Shaw at Florida State - though Eva retired 1 game from an easy victory last week - and Given Roach and Kylie Bilchev at GT. Starts 9pm UK time. Live stream | Live Scores
A couple of side notes: Oliver Tarvet's win over #3 Murphy Cassone earned up WCC Player of the week for the third time this season. Oliver has earned a weekly honour in 7 of the first 9 weeks of the spring season.
In the men's D1 rankings, GB have 4 players in the top 10 with Johannus Monday at #5, Jake Fearnley at #6, Oliver Tarvet at #7 and JPJ at #8.

Millie is quickly becoming Fiona Crawley's nemesis as she defeats her in straight sets again to remain unbeaten against her. Millie opened her serving with an ace and sealed the match with an ace, and there were quiet a few in between. The first set went with serve before Millie got the all important break at the end of the set. She got another early break in the second. But got broken back and seemed to be a bit rattled by it, throwing in some loose shots in the following game and allowing Fiona to get ahead. They traded breaks of serve for much of the 2nd set before Millie managed to get ahead at the end of the set to win 6-4 7-5 and get NC State's first point on the board. NC State again won 4-3 against their local rivals in a match that was played indoors due to inclement weather and remain unbeaten 11-0 at home. They next play their other local rivals, Duke, tomorrow.
In the Florida State v Georgia Tech dual, their were wins for Vic Allen and Millie Bisset (FSU) in the doubles, coming back from 1-5 against the #12 ranked doubles pair to win on a TB and for Kylie Bilchev and partner (GT), but Given Roach lost her doubles set. In singles #64 Vic Allen was victorious against her #45 ranked opponent in court 1 position, while Kylie (GT) and Millie Bissett (FSU) lost their singles matches in courts 2 and 4 positions respectively.
In Arkansas v Florida, Alicia Dudeney and partner (ARKW) got the doubles win over Morgan Cross and partner (UF). Alicia Dudeney won her singles in the court 3 position but Morgan Cross lost in the court 4 position. Indy Spinks (ARKW) did not play, presumably she is still not 100% from her recent injury.

It was JPJ that retained his spot at the top of the order to play #1 ranked Eliot Spizzirri. Although Texas had already won the dual, the match was played to a completion. JPJ won the first set 6-4, but lost the second 5-7. The match was decided on a match tie break which JPJ narrowly lost 12-14. Jake Fearnley played on court 2 against the #2 ranked Micah Braswell, but was the first to lose 4-6 3-6. Lui Maxted also lost his singles as Texas defeated TCU 5-0.
Jack's match tie break wasn't the longest TB by a Brit in the US yesterday as Kylie Bilchev (Georgia Tech) took the 1st set against her #69 ranked opponent in a 15-13 tie break.
