It is WTA ranking and ITF ranking, ITF is only really relevant at the lower levels of ITF tournaments (W15 really) where many players haven't yet earned enough points to gain a WTA ranking.

Doubles ranking are only used for doubles draws ;)

Ok - I was confused because SC et Al never use them in the mens!

Actually, I don't bother for the doubles, but do look at junior rankings if the player is under 18 and post if high and recent (JR or JCH)

Bianca is involved in the upcoming doubles Sf. Amelia and Nell wait the winners of that match in the Final to be played later

F: RAJECKI, Amelia (GBR) UNR/862 (CH=UNR/839 2022) v HU, Victoria (USA) (4) 843/475 (CH=835/339 2022)

One more win for a WTA ranking.

Amelia will certainly have earned her title if she does win, having played the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 8th seeds.

One win away from a WTA ranking. Amelia appears to have a single WTA point from Nottinham in July, but the 6 points earned so far aren't quite enough.

Edit: - crossed with Peter's edit !

Fernandez and Hu have given a walkover in their Doubles Sf so Nell and Amelia face the no 4 seeds in the Final

Amelia takes the first set 6-1

Sorry for being slow - what do the two ranking numbers - UNR/862 - mean for Amelia ? Is one ITF? Is anyone using itf anymore?

It is WTA/ITF rankings. I give the ITF rankings for the W15 events because most of the entrants have no WTA ranking. The ITF ranking is often all the organisers have to go on to select seeds, particularly for qualifying.

As an example look at this week's tournament in Monastir. We had four players in Q1 none of which had a WTA ranking and none of their opponents had a WTA ranking. We had three players in Q2 and none of their opponents including the first and third seeds had a WTA ranking. We had three players in R1 none of which had a WTA ranking and only one of their opponents had a WTA ranking. If you are only interested in the WTA rankings then you could assume that all players in a W15 are unranked and you would not be far wrong. If a player does have a WTA ranking then that takes precedence over the ITF ranking so I have to give both.

That you can reach the final of a 15K and still not have done enough for a ranking just shows how much of a nonsense the WTA ranking system is.
