Do my shopping at the local Sainsburys a couple of miles away.
Get on direct bus home.
Realise I have left my phone on bench.
Stop bus at lights and walk back and collect phone.
Next bus in an hour and pissing down. What next?
Ahh, bus due soon at nearby stop and I can get connection to that home.
Get off a stop too soon for connection. OK; ust quick stride along.
Fall headlong over roadsign lieing on pavement.
Forehead gushing with blood, lenses out of specs somewhere.
Two women- stopped car driver and pedestrian rush to my side.
We pick me up, my spread out shopping up, find my lenses intact. Could be worse.
Car driver gives me a lift home. We pass on visiting nearby hospital minor injuries unit, seems more blood than damage and shopping bags in tow. Getting better
Home now - cleared up much blood but hospital visit looks unnecessary, specs OK apart from.lenses out. .
So a visit to opticians tomorrow looks all that's required.
But it sounds like you have really nice people in your neighborhood though - no one nicked your phone - lovely, helpful car driver and woman pedestrian
And, yes, as Jan says, please try and go for a VERY boring weekend !
Poor thing. Hope you are on the mend, and nothing serious done :0/
As someone who can fall over their own shadow, let alone being ambushed by a road sign, I can recommend balance exercises for seniors. Loads of exercises on YouTube.

Basically I shouldn't be allowed out.
Don't give up on going out and being sociable!
I nearly wrote this post at 2am this morning because my sleeping patterns are getting worse as I gets older. But in terms of longevity some extended family of mine have been celebrating my mother's 100th birthday over the last couple of days. She can still do some of her own shopping and we took her to Stratford yesterday., to amble round and have coffee. She received a card from the King also, very nicely done and it arrived early.
Oh dear, in my case I shouldn't be allowed to drive, especially when it's wet or dark or I've foolishly decided to take my phone's sat nav's advice ( for a journey I know well) but failed to have mobile data switched on and got totally lost and in a panic 'cos I'm late for the dentist (not local) for a tooth extraction that's been overdue for six months.
Moonlighting was my favourite tv programme of its time and Sixth Sense in my favourite films ever, top 10 for sure. Wishing him and his family all the best
