Week 45 - 2022 BJK Cup Finals - Glasgow, UK, Indoor Hard

How have we got through that group...

Lissey was outstanding in the doubles.
Australia aren't that strong. The other side of the draw is loaded.

Three great matches and three great scores. And the selection of Lissey and Liv was proved to be correct, and they were a major part of this win.

I assume that Anne didn't know that Emma was going to pull out? - so the original 4 were firm picks with no place in the squad for both Lissey and Liv. All's well that ends well

Looks like there is some decent prize money for reaching the semi finals. The LTA will get a pot of money but the player pot looks to be 800k Dollars for reaching the semi final stage. Which is a good amount to be sharing.

Anne is going to find it hard to leave Lissey & Liv out of future teams for a while after this week's performance.

Especially for Liv and Lissey, who were finding life tough financially and we all know doubles doesn't pay well unless you are right at the top.

I have to say all the girls are lovely. I've met them all bar Heather, plus Katie and Harriet's mums, so it's really nice that they are having this success.

I love how pumped Alicia is but how calm Olivia is.

The yin and yang of British doubles!

So happy for them, especially to have this success at a relatively late stage of their careers.

All the girls do seem to go up a level somehow when playing for GB.

Will Emma even be able to get her place back in the squad? blankstare

Yes, and a real shout out too to Cayer, and/or Team Bath, i.e. whoever's been coaching them in the past 12 months - they have so many different plays/variations of little plays now that they never had before - not particulalry difficult ones but ones that they seem SO comfortable with, that they've really well assimilated into their game

It was a great match biggrin

I gather that one of the support team in Glasgow was a ladies doubles coach from the LTA, who has also been working with them.

Yes, commies said Clare Curren was doubles coach and she has been working with Louis Cayer for a while.

And I believe making the semi finals guarantees you a spot in next year's finals, irrespective of where it ends up being held. So no qualifying play offs for us to stress about either!
