2022 November Player of the Month Nominations Thread

Just for completeness, Joel Gibson has his J4 doubles final to come today, in Poland.

But, with every best wish to him, I think the chances of a nomination based on a win there are exceptionally slight

Joe, and indeed Blu, are a bit more likely....

Adding Joe Salisbury.

1. Matthew Rankin - for making it on to the WR rankings for the first time with a L32 in in Egypt, and still a junior.
2. Jamie Murray - for reaching the milestone of 500 wins on the ATP Tour with his performances in Paris.
3. Will Jansen - reversing the result last week and taking out the No.2 seed, then consolidating with another straight sets win to make the SF, done whilst still a junior (GB's top ranked junior currently); won the M15 Kuwait doubles title
4. Lloyd Glasspool - for reaching the World Tour Finals for the first time and, in the process, reaching the semis in Paris Masters with wins over Dan, Jamie and their respective partners. Semis in ATP Tour Finals.
5. Eliz Maloney - for reaching the Shrewsbury W100 QF beating WR 150 and then giving WR 49 a very decent match, helping her move into the top 400 in both singles and doubles. Winner of UKPL week 7.
6. Sarah Tatu - 17 year old twice reached QF in Castellon W15 and Nules W15 as an unranked qualifier
7. Neal Skupski - Winner of the Paris Masters guaranteeing being part of the Nš1 pair for the entire season and reaching the WR1 spot (albeit shared). Semis in ATP Tour Finals.
8. Toby Samuel - winner of back to back USA M15 singles titles, and a doubles title, will enter the GB top 20 and probably overall top 540 from only 7 counters.
9. BJK GB Team - Outstanding 3-0 victory over Spain being under dogs and first time since 1981 in the semi finals; Dart had two outstanding wins playing at no 1 for GB in the BJK cup, beating Badosa and Tomljanovic, Nicholls/Barnett had two doubles wins over strong opponents; and Watson had a strong singles win over her Spanish higher ranked opponent, as the team won 5 out of 9 rubbers
10. Charlie Robertson - born 2006 - winner of both the singles and the doubles titles at the J4 in Liverpool
11. Julian Cash/Henry Patten - winning two Challenger 80 titles in the month, their 15th and 14th titles this season
12. Joe Salisbury - for becoming the first Brit to win the ATP Tour Doubles finals

If ones bent is the doubles, how does one even know where to start choosing one of that lot?

So, 3 days left for nominations; intention is for the vote to go up Sunday evening - I believe all the ITF and ATP events will be done with by then, the Mexico juniors may be the only outlier, lets see how things look over the next day or two, we still have a few singles players and doubles pairs in that.

DF update in Friday feeling - will anyone get onto our nominations list? I think all of those on the list above are either not playing or out this week!

DF wrote:

Fri 25/11

In singles we have:

Ali in the M25 in Tunisia and Mark in Australia and Amelia in Dominican Republic

In the doubles we have:

Julian & Henry in Challenger action in Italy, Emma with Nicole in Portugal, Tiffany with Roxanne and

Nell & Amelia in Dominican Republic

The weather has played a part in a number of tournaments this week so for example Naiktha did play today but lost in her second match.

Elsewhere the UK Pro League Finals is into the Semi Finals and the Winter County Cup is starting. In Merida, Mexico at the Junior ITF Grade A

tournament Ella and Mimi have reached the Qf in the singles and the Sf in the doubles where they are joined by Hugo and Henry.

Edit - Ali G and Mark W have fallen already!
