Good win for Sonay.

Yes. Sonay was the clear favourite, and understandably so.

Surprised by how many sloppy errors the Polish woman made.

Still needed winning though....

I havent been following much recently -so surprised and delighted by the quality of the livestream, with several camera angles, and informed commentary.

There seem to be some large brands advertising in the intros, so hopefully this will help to fill some coffers.

Along with the UK Pro-League, the new calendar with several more $25-$100 tournaments in the UK seems to me to be a big improvement on the situation a couple of years back.

Better stop here - I'm in danger of saying summat vaguely complementary about the LTA.

The money came via Channel 4 with Emma's success at the US Open. No idea if it continues or will be cut back but it is working and at juniors as well.

If it does continue, the argument will continue over what to put on. We have a good clutch of female 80-125k players and also a good clutch of 15-25k players.

The Czech junior has just beaten the number 4 seed, in two pretty easy sets

The Amazon/Channel 4 money is going into girls development programmes. The increase in tournaments was planned and announced in June 2021 before anyone knew Emma was going to have success. Indeed, the implementation of an increase in tournaments was delayed because of covid, having originally been planned for 2020 and 2021.

Interesting - I didn't know that Noelle van Lottum was now Ella's coach (and, indeed, Head Coach of the Stirling academy - although hasn't that now been disbanded????)

But not surprising she's come on in such leaps and bounds - Noelle is a very good coaches (and was a very good player too)

Thanks for that - that's a considerable change in policy from the LTA who were cutting domestic tournaments due to lack of sponsorships(Nike etc) and loss making events.

I find if you go to the live scores, click on the match you want to watch and then go to live stream that way, it sometimes works better than going through the live stream section. There may be some technical reason why????

It's also being streamed live on the LTA's Facebook page

The ITF link is the one I can never get to work. I suddenly realised it was the LTA one that was being referred to and that is working fine. So thanks for the heads up on that.

That was a real win-win match- really didn't matter, overall obviously better for Freya to win, its a big event for her, and Ella is going great guns, come what may....
