Doubles draw is out. Five all Brit pairs - and Emily Appleton is there. I'll post the draw in a while.

I think both Sonay and Lily have managed to make the main draw, freeing up another WC, which presumably and deservedly has gone to Em Ap

Never in doubt

Eliz never really gave a sniff of a chance to her opponent who, as per her other outings this summer that I saw, looked pretty lacklustre

As opposed to Eliz who was bouncy and picking her spots beautifully

Come on Maia - we want a clean sweep of Court 1!

Wise to avoid doubles having served underarm in Glasgow!

 No reason why not smile

Youngsters, even very promising ones like Eala, are always a little less predictable, especially against quirky players (Ranah is one but couldn't quite get it to work, Maia is another). Eala would far prefer to play Eden Silva or someone with a classic game. That said, Maia is not bubbling with top form, either.

But, as DF said, this is 'our' court

All going according to plan so far. Maia 5-1 up.

And a double fault from her opponent secures the first set 6-1.

Maia won 1 & 5

That's 4/5 winners today. What's got into our girls, they keep winning! That's not supposed to happen, it's most unsettling.

Had a feeling Maia would win, shes very underrated by many on here like Anna. Both Scottish of course might be a factor for some reason.
