Was not at all deeply concerned at 3-4 *15-40 in the second. Nope, definitely not.
Should add, with Emily finally losing her Shenzhen final points from 2019, this win means she replaces the 43 with a 29 (with potential for more), rather than 18. Which is not unhelpful!
It will also take Veronika to a career high inside the top 200, making her the third of Emily's partners this year she's helped to that achievement (after Ingrid who has kept rolling since their summer together where she started around 250 and is now at 130 and on Brazil's Fed Cup squad, and Justina M, who broke the top 160 for the first time after their win in India).

According to Coric that's a rise of 7 places for Emily to WR165, with 29 points replacing 18 from Sozopol, although she drops 25 points from Bhopal before the end of the month.
Unfortunately dropping that first game was decisive in the end, but it did look from the scoring like their opponents were in control as they have been throughout their matches. A positive week though, and important job covering those points dropping off.
