Live rankings are predicting a rise of 279 places to WR514, close to her CH.
I think a lot of her recent success is down to confidence, arising from some good doubles results. She is much improved in relation to performances over the last few years.
An intersting thing I noted (well, I found it interesting ) is that Emily has been SO SO dead-pan in terms of emotions etc these last few weeks. Which ties in with her as a real youngster, she enjoyed her tennis, was always quite bouncy, smiley, liked running in, but not at all prone to displaying overt emotion.
When looking back at all my old files, there's an interview with Emily, a few years back, saying her coach has been helping her get a lot better at showing motivation, they've been working on her 'c'mons' and fist- pumps etc.
And I take this to be that she had coaches who basically were trying to change her natural style.
Her coach thought she needed to be more pumped, and that this involved public displays, but maybe this sat really badly with Emily.
Maybe she's changed coach to someone who appreciates her natural qualities, or maybe Emily is more conifdent in herself and can put her foot down. Maybe the coach that she and Ali C had liked all this stuff and now that's history she's more at ease to be herself. I've no idea but the interview was very interesting, given how she used to be as a kid, and how she was this week, in her best singles week ever. Coaches can get it wrong....

She was explicit in crediting her doubles success with improving her singles form in her post-match interview with Abigail Johnson.
Interviews with Emily & Lily on Abigail Johnson's new podcast.
Emily talks quite openly about struggling with singles recently, and with the mental side of the game. She doesn't seem to have a huge amount of coaching input at the moment. Says she is going to probably stick to her current strategy of playing higher tournaments for doubles, and sneaking into qualies (which should be much less sneaky now). Worth a listen.

I think it's a good idea! She's had two good weeks, but let's not forget it's been years of not very much in singles. If she can get more money in doubles, and improve her singles game as a result - could be promising for the next few years until she kicks on in singles.
