Wow, I only started following the match at 5-5 all in the 2nd set tie break, had no idea that Heather was up 5-1 in games in that set until just now after the match finished. Lily played very well in that deciding set.
Frustration boiled over with Heather throwing down her racket mid-game mid-set. In a way, she didn't fight hard right to the end in that match.

Heather over many years has certainly been sonetimes prone to losing the plot and her racket going flying and/or real despair. At times this is followed by her announcing that we are going to see a 'new Heather'
Great win for Lily though I would be surprised if she takes the fifth spot on the BJK Cup team.
Heather will be disappointed but still a good week for her, no shame in playing at W60 and 100 level if necessary if she wants to continue her career and get back into the Top 100.
She's showing at live WR243 on 263 points, and has just two counters to drop in the rest of this year (12+7 replaced by 5+5) so every chance of moving up further. Looks a pretty good chance of making the cut.
Lily now ahowing at WR214 on live rankings. A good week at Loughborough and she'll be close to WR200 (depending on other players of course)

With this title, 2022 is now the best single year for GB womens ITF titles above W15/$15K this century.
Collectively that makes 10 such titles this year (7 @ W25, 3 @ W60) which beats the 9 of 2018 (8 @ W25, 1 @ W60)
It also equals our best single year haul at the individual W60/S50K tier this century; we also won 3 in 2010 (Baltacha, Konta, Watson)
However, we'd need one more such title to equal our best single year since 2000 for titles >= W60/$50K; we won 4 in 2010 (3 @ $50K, 1 @ $100K) and also in 2008 (1 @ $50K, 1 @ $50K+H, 1 @ $75K, 1 @ $100K+H)
Finally, with titles at >= W25 this year from now 6 different players (Boulter, Brogan, Kartal, Miyazaki, Silva, Swan), that is also our best this century. Previously 5 different players had won a >=W25/S25K title in both 2018 & 2009.
*All figures relate only to ITF singles titles at the specified tier(s). WTA/Slam/Doubles titles are not counted above.

Thanks for those stats, good to see that progress!
F:- Freya Christie (GBR) / Ali Collins (GBR) CR404 (208+196) [1] v Irene Burillo Escorihuela (ESP) / Andrea Lazaro Garcia (ESP) CR660 (450+210)
A great comeback from Freya and Ali from *1-4 in the first set !
With their 6-4 6-1 win in the final, that's now since the start of August 4 titles in 5 doubles events for Ali and for Ali & Freya as a partnership ( Freya played another couple of doubles events while Ali missed a few weeks ) - 2 W25s, a W80+H, and now a W60, worth in total 310 points out of their total counting points on 24/10, ie. out of 483 for Ali and 461 for Freya. ( points that will give them both CHs on 24/10 and loads of scope to go higher wirh their points so weighted to recent months ).
In case anyone is interested, Abigail Johnson has a new podcast and had a pre -final interview with Heather on there. Heather talked about having a few years in her yet, thank goodness
