She was a break down in the second for a while but managed to turn it round to win in two:

She is defendinig a number of points this month so the pressure is on her.

They have met twice before with Naiktha winning in Tsukuba in 2018 and Mai winning in Osaka in 2019.

That was close. Naiktha won two points on 2nd serves late in the tie break, the 1st to get a match point, the 2nd to save a match point.

Having beaten the 3rd seed, Naiktha now faces the 2nd seed. If she wins that she will face the 1st or 4th seed in the final.

 That's a super result - must be Naiktha's best singles result for a while, no? 

I saw a bit in the second set and thought, here we go, she wins the first set and then it's all downhill after that - sorry, Naiktha biggrin

they met in 2017 with Lizette winning in three.

Lizette beat the top seed so Naiktha will have played the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seeds rather than the top three.
