It was a fair score - she had her chances, just faltered on a few key points, didn't follow in when the youngster hoiked the ball, got a bit caught out between attack and safety

Didn't watch, but followed the score ticking over. Freya almost forced the tie-break, saving a couple of match points. A pity. Freya played well against Swan in Trnava-1 and she was in the mix here, from what you say CD. Hopefully a few more tournaments and results will start to improve.
Q2: CHRISTIE, Freya (GBR) (6) 470 lost to KLIMOVICOVA, Linda (CZE) 639 3-6 5-7
There were three LL slots but we didn't get lucky, Germany got very lucky.

It beggars belief that Freya didn't get a LL spot when she was the highest rank losing player. Really unlucky
I am not sure that the highest ranked loser necessarily deserves a LL spot, tbh. I think all the final round losers should go into a draw and it is pot luck who gets one. Or failing that, give it to the one with the best scoreline in their FQR ie sets losers above 2 set losers. But I prefer a straight pot luck draw. Avoids any chance of players throwing their final round match
Maybe. The live-tennis and OER sites both show her as live 198 on 332 points. There are though a number of players who could still overtake her this week.

What confuses me is sometimes they seem to prioritise the highest ranked players and sometimes not, unless I've got that wrong? Either way would be fine but there should surely be one rule that applies to all tournaments.

In ITF tournaments the LL order is drawn from all losers in the FQR with a WTA ranking first and then those with an ITF ranking. For WTA tournaments, if the LL spots are available before qualifying is completed then it is a draw between the highest 2 (or number of LL places + 1) ranked losers or if the LL places become available after qualifying is completed LLs are allocated in order of ranking.
