RE: Week 40 - ITF W60 - Trnava, Slovakia Hard

Sonay not looking out of her depth at W60 level, she's done well, and still the doubles to play for.

Diatchenko keeps doing well at 60-100k level, but really does anything when she steps up to Main tour.

I'm loving seeing Katie win so many matches recently. Injuries have really hindered her progress, but she's such a talent. Also good week for Maia and Sonay.

Katie is another one, playing well this week, who has won a PoM title here this season and could be a contender for player of the year.

Sonay should have/would have/could have beaten Diatchenko yesterday.

I'm expecting Katie to win reasonably easily today

I wish you hadn't said that.  It makes me nervous.

I don't believe in jinxes smile

She might lose but it's not because she's jinxed

If we don't commit at the start, then there's less discussion

And if people all go for the negative approach (like one poster I have in mind where, bless her, our lad could play someone 1000 places lower in the list and she'll say 'well, he's got a chance'), then there's not much interest in that either

Sorry, but I think she'll win

She's playing really well so I'm very much hoping your right.  But after going 4-0 up Diachenko started getting cross and going for broke.  Despite a few rash misses she's getting a lot of winners so it's now 5-4.   I don't believe in jinxes either but it feels at times that there's a commentator curse which changes the momentum.  Anyway hope you're right and I'm worrying unnecessarily

Diatchenko is certainly going for broke. Big serves and big groundstrokes. Katie looking good though and hitting some big shots herself.

And she wins 6-4. 6-1 - a really competent performance. What a lovely Saturday morning watching Katie win.

No panic, Katie makes the game look easy, when the confidence is high. Diatchenko hitting with a lot of power, but not that quick around the court, and not reacting quick enough to the first serve. Katie hitting plenty of aces, and Diatchenko not many. It wasn't an exhausting match for Swan, and sets her up for the final, hopefully.
