Impressive results from all three. None of them easy matches.

Very well done. Particularly impressed by Sonay over a very good youngster and how Maia held strong mentally after being reeled back in so many times.

Katie now has 10 successive wins in completed singles matches ( W60 title, WTA 250 SF retirinng at 0-3 in her SF, W60 QF so far ).

Playing doubles as well suggests confidence in her current fitness.

Sonay has levelled it up, with the winner playing Katie who has just beaten Maia in straight sets

Watching Sonay and wondering why there is quite so much noise coming from the other court...... and then realise it's a Czech qualifer, age 15, playing the number one seed from CHina

C'mon, youngster - everyone likes a young upstart underdog

Another good competitive match between the Brits. Maia played some good attacking tennis, especially in the 1st set, and has a variety of shots at her disposal. She might have been hampered a bit on serve, based on the shoulder strapping she had on. Katie was relentless in defence, always looking to find good depth on the shot, and that together with having the stronger serve kept the scoreboard ticking over in her favour.

I guess on the plus side you could say 'Sonay did brilliantly to get SO close to beating a player ranked about 110 in the world'

On the other hand, she was really in that third set, all the way, until the last game when she did one poor smash followed by a hopeless volley (she's my little fave but not for her volleying ! ), and then a nasty serve point, and put herself under pressure that she shouldn't have, which left her with too much to do

But, I guess, overall, let's go for the first version - great effort

And as per my comment on Hannah K elsewhere, Sonay has won two PoM titles this season, the only player to do so, and must also be a contender for player of the season in December !
